This person is known in his game designer capacity as Clark Peterson only, and indeed Clark Peterson (game designer) redirects here.

At the same time, another Clark Peterson is the sole subject of the non-specific page Clark Peterson.

I maintain that to disambiguate Clark Peterson (game designer) from this other person, that article should ideally be called "Clark Peterson (film producer)" or equivalent.

The fact another editor inserted the A that the judge Clark Peterson uses is not a good reason to make the other Clark Peterson sole primary of the article title Clark Peterson.

As a minimal effort, I am adding a hatnote to each, cross-referencing them. It is very possible that a visitor reaches the producer's page when looking for the game designer.

I moved this article to Clark A. Peterson because the news that was coming in regarding his activities as a judge identified him using his middle initial. Since he has achieved some notability in his role as a judge (even if it is directly tied to his gaming activity), it didn't seem right to continue to disambiguate him as (game designer) since that is no longer the case. Retaining the disambiguated redirect allows a person searching for that title to find this article, as many other game designer articles use that disambiguator. I'm not sure that a hatnote is needed on this article because the middle initial makes the article title unambiguous (if we get another Clark A. Peterson I would see the need for a hatnote), but I agree that it is needed on the other page. Also, I could see moving the other Clark Peterson to a new title with a disambiguator, and then creating a disambiguation page for the two distinct individuals. BOZ (talk) 22:46, 20 July 2014 (UTC)

Hello and thanks for your timely response. I understand and accept the addition of the initial, if only we take care to not let that be a reason for not disambiguating the two. The fact remains that there are two notable "Clark Peterson" (without middle initials) in this world, and as a minimum we should crossreference them both. If NAMB issues moves you to suggest we deal with them differently (only having a hatnote from the producer to the designer and not vice versa), then, yes, I would much rather for you to go ahead with your proposal to make them truly equal (in that neither gets the unqualified "Clark Peterson" article).

Let me suggest the alternative where we maintain our two main articles both under the namen Clark Peterson: "Clark Peterson (producer and executive)" and "Clark Peterson (designer and judge)" (where we note in bold the alternative name: something like "known in his professional capacity as a magistrate as Clark A. Peterson"...), one disambiguator page "Clark Peterson" and one redirect "Clark A. Peterson" --> "Clark Peterson (designer and judge)". This has the advantage of being the most straight-forward structure, protecting our structure against further additions of Clark Petersons, as well as future NAMB wikilawyers (that may perform drive-by hatnote removals). founder and co-creator

It appears previous versions of our article confused what Peterson created and co-created, probably based on the following snippet from the ABA Journal: "Peterson is also a co-founder of Necromancer Games and Legendary Games." But this refers to a Spokesman Review article that actually said: "He co-founded publishing venture Necromancer Games in 2000, then launched Legendary Games about a year after he took the oath of office as magistrate in March 2010."

In short, while he (and Bill Webb) co-created (or co-founded) Necromancer Games, there is nothing that suggests he co-created (or co-founded) Legendary games.

This has now been updated. The names of the references have not been changed. CapnZapp (talk) 09:34, 15 March 2021 (UTC)
