"City of New Orleans" versus simply "New Orleans"[edit]

The City of New Orleans is the largest city in the U.S. state of Louisiana.

"City of New Orleans" is what the government of the city is called; the city itself is simply called "New Orleans". Indeed, "City of New Orleans" redirects to "New Orleans". I am going to change the sentence accordingly. --71.183.135.84 (talk) 05:37, 22 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Why does this auto-redirect to New Orleans, the city?[edit]

Who is going to type out all of "City of New Orleans" when they are looking for the article about New Orleans? Nobody is going to do that. Anybody looking up "City of New Orleans" I would think would clearly be looking for either the song or the train, otherwise there is no point to typing out "City of ..." Wouldn't it make more sense to have "City of New Orleans" lead to this disambiguation page instead of auto redirecting to the city? Trolley8 (talk) 05:51, 26 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
