Untitled

There is a sentence that say 'He does not rate his routes', but later the article quotes him talking about the grade of a route. What gives? Ashmoo 04:06, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

Dont know... Sharma is the best!


He doesn't typically grade routes, and prefers not to, but in the case of Dreamcatcher, when asked, he said the route is "probably 5.14C or D." Ambiguities like this will continue to exist until sport climbing adopts an official method for grading professional sport routes. Hope that helps. Thefleck 07:53, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

Too much insider jargon

"a 7-foot dyno 35 feet above the water, which apparently took Sharma 50 attempts to stick." – What does this even mean? --Dcfleck 22:19, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

They were comparing it to another dyno that he stuck in a few tries that was 5.15 insinuating that since it took him 50 attempts to stick it, it was hence harder.

I'm not even close to an expert, but I've watched some free climbing. This one was on Jeep World of Adventure Sports a couple years ago. I'm not sure what it is technically, but I think it's like a combination jump/swing to cross a patch with no hand/footholds. They showed like 15 of his tries on the 7-foot dyno...jump *splash* repeat. --Elmyr (talk) 00:09, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

Dyno stands for 'dynamic movement', and while the definition is fuzzy and not totally agreed upon by all climbers, usually a dyno involves some sort of jump for a hold in which at least both feet come off. 65.218.181.189 (talk) 15:59, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

Per WP:BLP policy (which means that all Wikipedia editors are obligated to follow), I've removed any statements that were possibly contentious and also unsourced from the article. If I wanted to break Wikipedia policy, sure I could have. As referenced above in WP:BLP, the proper process for a living person is to strike anything remotely contentious, which I've done. I know it's a PITA, however this policy is in place to prevent any legal ramifications. Also, it appears you added a bunch of stuff back from a previous version of the page. This stuff generally wasn't well-sourced and didn't use the proper ref tags for a citation. I've again removed any content that wasn't reflected in the source, and I've added these in a more commonly approved ref manner. —  X  S  G  20:47, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

all assessments regarding "first consensus 15a" etc. are not to be added, since these claims cannot be substantiated or referenced. Edited the following entry because it is stupid to assume a grade posted in a climbing video. Grading in climbing videos are frequently wrong.

"Some ambiguity exists concerning its grading: In 2005, after the first ascent, Sharma said the route is "probably 14c or 14d," [1] although the route is now widely considered 14d, most likely because it is graded as such in the only video of its fir'''Link title'''st ascent, Dosage Vol. IV. [2]"

5.15a and 5.15b

This states that he climbed the world’s first 5.15a and 5.15b, which is a bit different than what the article states. 89.201.185.174 (talk) 23:49, 17 December 2020 (UTC)

That is fixed now, and the article clarifies that he did climb the world's first consensus 5.15a (although it is possible that another climb, Open Air in hindsight, was the actual first 5.15a) and that he did climb the world's first consensus 5.15b. 78.19.228.144 (talk) 10:23, 13 June 2022 (UTC)
