Isn't the word chorba of Arabic Origins? 87.194.73.120 (talk) 21:49, 7 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That is what I think as well, from Sh-R-B, "to drink" and Sharab. Surely it is Arabic origin? 89.206.227.99 (talk) 12:09, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I'm pretty positive it's from Arabic as well. -DevOhm Talk 12:23, 23 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Merger proposal[edit]

I propose to merge Ciorbă and Shorwa into Chorba. I think that the content in the Ciorbă and Shorwa articles can easily be explained in the context of Chorba, and the Chorba article is of a reasonable size that the merging of the other two will not cause any problems as far as article size is concerned. - Marcel marcel (talk) 13:21, 28 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

What unifies these dishes, other than their names being cognates? From my ignorant perspective, it looks like these are just words for soup. Ibadibam (talk) 21:05, 6 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed merge of Soup into Chorba[edit]

Persian root of chorba[edit]

شوربا، کدوبا، سپیدبا، دوغ با، ماست با all are sample of words with x+ba ! ba means food , too cook! برسام (talk) 15:29, 1 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • SNOW Oppose. There is simply no explanation for merging a bigger topic "into" a smaller one, especially one outside of the common English lexicon.--Artoria2e5 🌉 08:18, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Great Etymology section[edit]

This is really great and useful, it helped me understand some things studying arabic.

Please do not merge, the information will get lost in a general soup article. Setreset (talk) 06:18, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
