Daniel (son of David)Chileab – This person is known by two different names in the Hebrew Bible. But "Chileab" has primacy, being in the Samuel narrative, and this way no disambiguation is needed.--Relisted Cúchullain t/c 15:28, 23 August 2012 (UTC) StAnselm (talk) 00:34, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Obviously, Daniel (biblical character) would most naturally refer to Daniel. StAnselm (talk) 06:34, 11 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that might be the more primary "Daniel" in the bible! However, is Chileab an accurate translation? See here. כִלְאָב ("Kileab/Chileab") translates more like "protected by the father", "like the father", or "another love", so is it a "proper name" or a pseudonym? That's the problem with "the bible" it has been translated from "Hebrew" to "Greek" to "Latin" to "English" but never directly from the original to "English", and there is no one left that speaks/reads the same dialect that it was originally written in.--Education does not equal common sense. 我不在乎 06:39, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support This overview of fifteen Bible translations hows a clear preference for Chileab, with Daniel and Kileab getting one each. --BDD (talk) 21:43, 30 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support; sounds reasonable to me, and avoids parenthetical disambiguation. bobrayner (talk) 16:56, 23 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
