Merge from chiasma[edit]

Now that chiasm and chiasma are both disambig pages (unless somebody reverts) with some overlap in content, I think it would simplify things if I merged them. However, I don't want to tread on anyone's toes, so I will wait for comments. --Heron (talk) 15:45, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that arrangement would be more convenient, and disambiguation guidelines do allow for combining similar terms. +A.0u 01:27, 11 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I think merging would be fine. *Pepperpiggle**Sign!* 19:48, 26 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think they should be merged - chiasma is a term in genetics referring to a structure that results in meiotic recombination of chromosomes, but the term 'chiasm' is not used in this sense. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 137.150.39.169 (talk) 16:49, 11 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I concur, do not merge. Chiasma (pl. chiasmata) is a biological term that refers to sites of recombination between homologous chromosomes during meiosis. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.162.91.230 (talk) 01:57, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Chiasma is also a literary device which refers to the mirrored crossing of two terms within a single poetic phrase, so I do not think the two meanings should be merged. 75.155.7.202 (talk) 22:02, 11 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed, do not merge for the reasons stated above. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.15.175.150 (talk) 00:15, 8 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
