Murder[edit]

In September of 2012 it was the scene of a murder. Three members of a British family were shot twice each in the head while in their car in a lightly used rural area. Their two daughters survived the attack. A French cyclist, apparently accidentally coming upon the murder scene while the murderer or murderers were still there was also killed. ^[1] ^[2]

I don't know if this is encyclopedia-worthy or not, but at the moment, it is very much in the news, because of the brutality, the dramatic survivals, the international aspect (French-British co-operation, the murdered man in the car being a successful Iraqi refugee. Also, a murder of four people in a small tourist area is much more significant for that community than such a murder would be in a large metropolitan community.
