Potential sources[edit]

@Heironymous Rowe and KiwiNova: In response to the suggestion at Talk:Chato people#Requesting Merge With Chatot about rewriting this article, I have generated a list of potential sources (above) based on searchs in Google Scholar for "Chatot" and "Chacato". Many of the sources may cover minor points, and earlier ones may be the basis for later sources. I'll try to help sort through these, but may not have much time for a while. - Donald Albury 22:52, 29 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I've bumped the merge proposal over at Talk:Chato people#Requesting Merge With Chatot. Anyone interested? - Donald Albury 01:21, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Two articles about the same tribe?[edit]

Isn't this article about the same tribe - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chato_people ?

See the above discussion and the discussion at Talk:Chato people. I am in the process of expanding this article, incorporating what I can from "Chato people", and will shortly convert "Chato people" to redirect to here. Donald Albury 18:14, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm basically done, for now. I have one more source I want to look at, but that will have to wait I can get to the university library again. - Donald Albury 16:45, 25 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed page move[edit]

Chatot -> Chacato

In working on this article, I have realized that the title should be "Chacato" rather than "Chatot". Hann (2006), the major source for this article, notes that "Chatot" was the common English name used for the people through most of the 20th century, but he uses "Chacato" throughout his book, as do all of the sources I used in the article that have been published since the 1990s. It appears that "Chacato" has become the accepted name for the people who are the topic of this article. Donald Albury 17:14, 25 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
