Semi-protected edit request on 18 April 2014[edit]

Please change 20 to 21 for his age.

He just had a birthday two days ago so his age should be updated to 21, that's all really. You can verify this on multiple other sites, but his birthday is already listed so I didn't source them. Oughtobe (talk) 17:35, 18 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Already done Birthdays update automatically on Wikipedia. Jackmcbarn (talk) 18:05, 18 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) I don't understand what you are seeing, but the age I see is 21.
The age is generated, and --MelissaStormCaliGal (talk) 21:51, 20 May 2014 (UTC)updated, automaticallyhttp://chancetherapper.com - no-one has altered the article since 15 April, and that edit did not affect the age.[reply]
When did you see 20? and was it actually on this article? or on a Google, or similar, search, which included part of this article? Google searches are often several days behind. - Arjayay (talk) 18:13, 18 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I tried pasting http://chancetherapper.com to update his site because I thought he would have it as is; some other cool site is linked but I'm sure that as big as Chance is that he owns it! :) Please double check, I love chance!!!

Acid Rap Rankings[edit]

I went ahead and added some information acknowledging the rankings Acid Rap was given on Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, and Complex's top 50 albums of 2013. Hope that's okay with everyone, let me know if you have questions. Adamh4 (talk) 18:46, 17 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in Chance the Rapper[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Chance the Rapper's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "complex.com":

  • From SZA (singer): "50ct remix" Dharmic X, '50 Cent Remixes SZA's "Teen Spirit"', Complex Media, December 6, 2013.

  • From 2014 in hip hop music: "Future — Who Is Dizzy Wright?". Complex. 2013-06-10. Retrieved 2014-07-08.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 01:08, 1 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Missing information and incorrect citation[edit]

Hello there! I am new to the talk page and learning how to engage within the wikipedia community. I am a student simply critiquing this article for an assignment.

As I analyzed this article, I noticed two possible issues which could be updated or revised.

Firstly, there is missing information underneath the collaborations section which did not include his feature in Kehlani's song "The Way" which was release in 2015. Furthermore, under activism, Chance the Rapper is known for collaborating with the NAACP in bringing voter registration to his concerts in an effort to inspire the youth to vote. Such information can be added to keep the article updated.

Secondly, source 31,32, 33, and 59 was poorly cited. The name of the author, publisher and so forth ought to be inputted in order to verify the source.

Thanks! --COMN4201Kim (talk) 17:58, 3 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Instruments[edit]

On this page, Chance's only listed instrument listed is vocals. However, I attended his live show at Bill Graham Auditorium in San Francisco, CA and Chance played the piano for his song "Same Drugs." Chance did the same on the Saturday Night Live Christmas (2016) episode, hosted by Casey Afleck. I would appreciate feedback if this is incorrect, or why this isn't listed. Thank you!

High traffic article[edit]

This is the first time Chance has appeared in the WP:TOP25, so I wanted to say thanks to all the editors who have worked on this. Definitely beyond a "start" class at this point.--Milowenthasspoken 16:48, 22 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

No doubt this is in part due to the great writing found in this article, such as: "On August 16, 2016 Chance wrote the single "We the People" paired in a Nike commercial titled "Unlimited Together" a film directed by Hiro Murai the first of two commercials he featured in in 2016." Classic Wiki style - makes no sense at all.

Birth name[edit]

Is his first name Chancellor or Chancelor? His infobox (Chancelor) and entry (Chancellor) has it differently and contradict each other. Which is it? --TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 06:20, 11 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I say Chancellor cause when u type it on you're keyboard it auto corrects it self Katlego zondi kele (talk) 22:25, 31 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have a different question about the spelling of his birth name: is it Johnathan or Jonathan? It's spelled both ways within the article, but "Jonathan" is the traditional spelling. --StringRay (talk) 21:26, 21 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nicki Minaj[edit]

@STATicVapor: Nicki Minaj is associated with Chance as they have collaborated on two songs from his debut album. Someone told me that "Two [songs] is certainly not enough, re-read what you linked me." However, Template:Infobox_musical_artist#associated_acts states that if an act has collaborated on multiple occasions, they can be an associated act. I am perplexed as to why two songs is "certainly" not enough. Billiekhalidfan (talk) 19:57, 7 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It says on there that the person must have formed a significant part of the person's career. Appearing on two songs on one project and not appearing on any others, does not make her a significant part of Chance's career. Two songs is simply not enough or else can you image how many people would be listed on Lil Wayne or T.I.'s articles. StaticVapor message me! 03:20, 20 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Discography should show 10day, Acid Rap, Coloring Book[edit]

Chance has fought his whole career to validate the mixtape (Coloring Book was the first mixtape to get a Grammy nomination) and most of his fans consider those to be his best projects. Acid Rap was the biggest mixtape that year and Coloring Book had a whole Justin Bieber feature, I don’t understand why they’re not considered big enough to be listed as part of his discography?? 2600:1010:B041:FA53:812D:C463:CA0A:12E3 (talk) 17:25, 29 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
