Decline because of nature forest reservation?[edit]
Today on November 9th 2008 I visited castle Luetzelhardt. Already on the way of the traffic route D3 to the castle, on several signs it was pointed out that this area belongs to the nature forest reservation Adelsberg Lutzelhardt. A protected zone in which the forest is completely left to itself. Trees may grow usury and die like they want to. Animals may also do and leave what they want to. Here in this part of the forest humans do not intervene any longer. On the other hand I do not have any reason against it and find it also a very good idea, but do they leave the castle on its self now also? No more safety and preservation measures? During the inspection of the old building I determined an enormous rampant growth in the inner bailey. The original southern entrance to the castle is not to be recognized any more; only a trampling path from the other side leads into the castle. The stairway hand rail already broke off at the first stages. On written demand to the Ministry for environment, forests and consumer protection Rhineland-Palatinate, which on German side care for the reservation, did answer to me that the castle will not be leaved on itself. It must be secured. Furthermore I have informed also the French partners (the Forestry Commission is responsible in Haguenau). The castle ruin is to be received as a lookout point and a cultural property, i.e. that the ascent and the platforms (stairs, railing etc.) have to be intact. If someboady wants to know more in addition, then there is to inquire best directly in Haguenau at the Office national de Forets. A letter to them returned after some weeks unopened and unanswered and I experienced that the Forestry Commission is not in Haguenau any longer, it was folded up with another office and is now called agence north alsace. A letter to there remained so far unfortunately unanswered. Does anybody else know more about the preservation of this cultural property? --Ulli1105 (talk) 16:33, 24 January 2010 (UTC)
