How to say it[edit]

A small section on pronunciation would be good as I have heard it pronounced in 2 different ways and described those are both shown on naming sites as well.These are the main 2 I have heard

1.Cah-tree-oh-nah
2.Cah-tree-nah

Is there some source supporting pronounciation #1 above, or any reason to believe it is anything other than a (somewhat common) error? And even if so, should it not be listed second, i.e. not preferred, on this article page? jhawkinson (talk) 06:39, 4 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

What does it mean to be an error? If a single person chooses that pronunciation, then that is their pronunciation and that is what it is. Apparently Miss Universe 2018 uses pronunciation #1 for her own name, see https://youtu.be/u2Cp1PivRm8?t=16 from 0:16 to 0:20 seconds. In of itself that doesn't make the pronunciation widespread or more common than the other, but it does lend it some further credibility. jhawkinson (talk) 21:57, 13 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

"Slender with slender; broad with broad". Were it not for the "o", her name should be /ka.tri.ña/. She was named after her her paternal grandmother, Catherine. She might pronounce it as such, but one wrong pronunciation makes it right not; it's /ka.tri:.na/. Same rule that says <Sean> is pronounced /ʃa:n/.
