Documenting controversy[edit]

Please try to discuss the controversies surrounding Churchill's works on this page. It is certainly possible to document them without resorting to citing blogs. I have protected the page. Once there is consensus on this page about changes, any admin can un-protect the article. -- SamuelWantman 06:27, 10 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think this is necessarily a content dispute. I would have reverted the edits by User:Truthlover2009 if I had seen them (or anything similar) in an article on my watchlist, not because of any opinion but because it is the responsibility of the user adding controversial information (particularly if it is about a living person) to find reliable sources. The changes made by Truthlover2009 also appear to violate WP:NPOV by presenting opinion as fact. —Snigbrook 00:22, 14 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Controversy section[edit]

This is probably necessary. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/mandrake/4612540/Caryl-Churchill-is-acccused-of-anti-Semitism.html This link as well as reviews of the play by The Times, The Guardian etc. should be used.Teatreez (talk) 16:09, 15 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'd suggest writing the section here on the talk page and seeing if there is consensus to include it. If this proves to be an uncontroversial collaborative effort, I'll unprotect the article. -- SamuelWantman 22:15, 16 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

So some of the usual suspects used the standard catch-all to attack the play, as indeed they always will. Was that it, or was there any justification for this taunt of racism? If there was reasoned justification then a synopsis should appear here. And if not why are the comments mentioned in this way at all?Kombo the mzungu (talk) 21:11, 12 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Why is this page protected?[edit]

According to our policy "Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users" and "Persistent vandalism, or the possibility of such for high-trafficked articles does not usually provide a basis for full-protection". On this article, we have seen several incidents of BLP-violating vandalism in a single day by just one editor, all swiftly reverted. This does not seem sufficient to me to justify even temporary semi protection, let alone indefinite full protection. So I request that it be unblocked, to enable constructive editors to continue to improve it. RolandR (talk) 12:07, 21 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

One person's vandalism is another person's edit war. This was never intended to be a long term block, but an attempt to get people to discuss a controversy. Since nobody is talking, and there is a request to unblock, I will unblock it. If problems persist, please request a new block on my talk page. -- SamuelWantman 23:59, 22 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Recent edits[edit]

I have made some edits to improve this article including one deletion of content as the only reference I could find was a direct copy and it was on a Prezi link that did not cite the author. I believe more work is needed before before the banners identifying problems can be removed.
