Named after George Canning and Robert Peel[edit]

The lede states that Canning Downs was named after George Canning and Robert Peel. OK, the Canning connection is obvious and there are citations to support that e.g. [1], but in what way is "Canning Downs" named after "Robert Peel"? Doesn't named after imply using part of the name? I cannot find any citations linking Canning Downs with Robert Peel, other than ones that appear to be copied from this Wikipedia article. The only thing I can find is that Robert Peel was replaced by George Canning as British Home Secretary, but I fail to see how that affects the naming of Canning Downs. I am very tempted to remove the mention of Robert Peel unless someone can establish his connection to this article. Your thoughts? Kerry (talk) 02:28, 29 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
