More information could be given[edit]

they could give more information about what kinds of bullying goes on and also what kind of things can be done to put a stop to or at least reduce the bullying that takes place in the work place. BrandiH05 (talk) 05:10, 21 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

More detailed information[edit]

Detail information such as why does the bullying occur? Also, Is the bullying because of the different levels (of nursing?)? (LPN,RN,Surgical) --Karina Quintanar (talk) 17:02, 24 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Bullying in the nursing program[edit]

Self-esteem has a different affect on each person individually. Nurses with healthy self-esteem are likely to deliver therapeutic patient care, whereas those with low self-esteem may be less likely to do so. The way a nurse may feel, may be the way they treat their patients.[1]

This has problems. The tone of the first sentence is wrong. Also how do you know what most people think? Avoid words like "most" unless you are backing it up with a reference stating that "51+% of people think about nurses and self-esteem." Your second sentence is a direct quote from ajournal, although not the journal that you state parenthetically. This isn't really a good spot for a direct quote. Wikipedia:Quotations has some guidelines, but I suspect the information in the quoted sentence could be rewritten to also include more information from the article, and then cited. The ref also looks okay, although you added an url after that... seems wrong. And the Date field didn't import correctly from the DOI. So, in short it looks like you may have picked an alright source (good, since it is listed on the article already as a source for more information) but you didn't do very well at incorporating that information into this article. I'm glad you put this on the talk page first although all comments on the talk page are subject to other peoples edits.--MTHarden (talk) 04:26, 30 September 2011 (UTC); minor spelling correction SgtLarkin (talk) 00:43, 10 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That's a little better but this is still a WP:CLOSEPARAPHRASE of the statement in the journal. Also, you should avoid statements like your last sentence since it implies that the reader of the article is a nurse involved in treating patients which may or may not be the case. Don't use the word like you did. --MTHarden (talk) 21:00, 1 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Review of Classmate's Sentence Upon reading the student's sentence, I saw one thing that I felt required a change. The change that I felt needed to be made was the heading that the sentence fell under. Since the the sentence was talking about another term for bullying in the nursing field, I changed the generic "bullying' heading to "Associated Terms." (POV) I feel like this relates to the topic and sentence more. It will also allow for more synonymous terms to be added under the category. Other than that, the information that was added was adequate. A decent source was used (POV) to cite the information used, and the information was not directly pulled from the source. The credibility of the source is slightly hard to gauge considering the author's sole credentials appear as "being a nurse." I feel (POV) like this makes it a bit of a biased source, but, overall, one that can still be incorporated.--RKennedy06 (talk) 20:02, 12 October 2011 (UTC)--70.130.129.22 (talk) 17:53, 9 October 2011 (UTC); minor spelling changes made SgtLarkin (talk) 00:43, 10 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Looking at your article "Nursing Bulling" are you just going to look at one level of nursing? The second question is, how does the nurse get help for this type of situation in the work place if their own job is to care for people? I find this to be very interesting. Review of classmates critique[edit]

After looking at the responses and making minor changes to the responses, everything else checks out, but there is not much left to talk about as it has been covered.SgtLarkin (talk) 00:43, 10 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

User:AlexisBPorter's contribution was good, especially about Horizontal Violence and how it relates to bullying in nursing. The source checks out as well. All other possible issues (POV) have been covered in previous reviews and edits. Abigail brooke (talk) 20:31, 12 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi my name is Erika Hartman, On this page I added a couple of sentence to different section on this page. I added a couple of statical sentences in the first paragraph on that page that would add good information for the introduction. I didn't add to much stuff to this page but I want make sure I contributed stuff that would be benefit to the article.

Edit for Psychology[edit]

Great job. The sentences flow very well together. I didn't have to make any changes. --Smizulski (talk) 20:41, 27 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

What gives?[edit]

Is this a wikipedia talk page or a high school project? Fascinating. The "talk pages" and the article itself are apparently being utilized to address a topic of interest in the nursing industry while additionally attempting to teach kids how to do some independent research. Actually this is not teaching kids to do independent research - otherwise the teacher would have directed them to a DICTIONARY to look up the word "lateral". Or explained that latter and ladder just sound alike and aren't in fact the same thing. Thanks for proving yet again why you should never use spell check (or Wikipedia!) as an authoritative source!130.15.105.243 (talk) 14:05, 10 April 2012 (UTC)someone who teaches nursing research[reply]

Remember: This is a talk page. Perhaps ya'll should stick to the topic and save your editing comments for a white board at the front of the class. Bullying still sucks, as does nursing. It also sucks to find out that the nursing "profession" is not very professional. (POV). Blondesareeasy (talk)

Woops! My Bad[edit]

Says right there at the top that the article is a school project. Oh well.\ Forest for the trees. Have fun kids. Blondesareeasy (talk)Nursing sucks. —Preceding undated comment added 23:30, 1 February 2012 (UTC).[reply]

Racial Bullying[edit]

Having just witnessed an very caring and professional older white nurse being shouted down by two black nurses after she picked them up for their lack of professionalism in sitting texting while patients on the ward were left unattended. Note that I was a visitor to the ward so didn't intervene. The older nurse was reduced to tears and the two black nurses laughed and jeered her as she left the ward. I have reported this to the matron but she said she will look into it but there is little she could do because some of these foreign nurses throw the race card up whenever this has happened in the past. I was wondering if anyone had done any research into this sort of behaviour and bullying.
I found out later from a patient on the ward that the older nurse was their senior and not only the two I saw but a group of 7 of the black nurses are rude, lazy and very confrontational to other staff and patients.
No reference to area or hospital for obvious reasons and don't want to be identified either. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 31.53.160.191 (talk) 17:00, 5 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Further research to be done[edit]

I would suggest further research be done on other various bullying types, such as doctor bullying nurse, patient bullying nurse, other healthcare workers bullying nurse, etc. More research could also be done on remedial action, especially if there have been any successes on the outcome of actions taken to prevent bullying of nurses. Another topic worth looking into could be to see if there is a decrease in bullying if there are known consequences to the perpetrator. -Cwilso20 (talk) 01:13, 28 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I would suggest further research be done on causes. I started this section with information I found in various sources, but I believe there is a larger number of causes that can be related to the bullying. Texley (talk) 21:45, 30 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Consequences[edit]

I believe I added a significant contribution to the Consequences section by adding a list of consequences for bullying. However, I did not know how to create a template for a bulleted list. If anyone would be able to explain to me how to make one, that would be appreciated, thank you. -Cwilso20 (talk) 14:14, 28 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I would suggest that more information on how nurses can cope with the bullying and abuse that they are dealing with could be beneficial. CStoviak (talk) 11:46 , 1 October 2021 (UTC)

conciseness of language[edit]

(i forgot to leave an edit note before) I fixed some of the conciseness issues, there was some redundancy. Also made some wording more clear. Throwawayaccount565 (talk) 02:45, 20 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

regarding the multiple issues template[edit]

1. the article is written in a way that is opinionated. ex. "no nurse should have to be bullied at work"

2. there are too many lists when the article is not a list.

3. some sections are short and lack elaboration/sufficient notability Throwawayaccount565 (talk) 22:52, 20 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
