Queen Elizabeth reference[edit]

Buffy nickname of Elizabeth

Buffy was the nickname of Queen Elizabeth II’s mother during her youth. Her first name was (also) Elizabeth. The “Queen Mother” as she was known, died in March 2002. Buffy is a British nickname for those with the full name Elizabeth. --82.3.255.184, 22:49, 17 July 2006

The fact indicated here:

  • Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon (1900–2002), the late queen (and queen mother) of the UK, who had the nickname Buffy as a child

(originally added: 21:21, 6 October 2006 81.76.102.154)

doesn't appear in wikipedia article for Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon. It's also pointed there that there seem to be scarce reference for this...

DrKiernan points out there: "Presumably My Darling Buffy by Grania Forbes but I've never read it". Has anyone read the book or know the info and can complete the data both here and in Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon article?.

Opps... there was in this page another information erased by vandalism, which I recover on top... it seems to clarify this a little more (?): could any British confirm that?
