Required additions[edit]

General citations & references required. I have included headings, but this article is still not "fluid", & for all the information availble on this species there is a lot of work to be done to bring this up to a high standard.

Captive breeding & husbandry[edit]

I know there are some in Germany, perhaps some in the UK in wildfowl collections. DOC has put out a husbandry manual for captive birds. All(?) ducklings are surrendered to the Isaac Trust (Peacock Springs) for pre-release conditioning?

Current distribution[edit]

& release sites with dates. There were some on Kapiti Island & in the Manawatu during the early 90's? where are they found today? - What National Parks/Sanctuaries. Would they prosper in inland lake areas such as Nelson Lakes National park?

Ecology & biology[edit]

What niche do they fill? Molting times? Sexually mature at what age? Are they affected by parasites? What do ducklings eat? How are they affected by being released in close proximity to humans?
