Modelling a BRUTE + photos[edit]

Found this forum thread during research:

which shows photos of assembling a kit, plus several archive photos: one of Birmingham New Street with about 50 BRUTEs (both blue and red), and another of a BRUTE that had escaped to a station in Ireland!

NB -- all this was prompted after seeing a blue BRUTE at the STEAM museum, Swindon. Photos to follow.

PCV no E85000[edit]

Van E85000 was branded "To work between Coventry and Banbury only". I saw this van quite a lot at Banbury during 1979-83; during the day, it would be in the former goods shed (at that time acting as a parcels dock, but now demolished) along with a BG until some time after 4 pm, when the train engine (usually a class 25) would arrive and draw them into platform 1. There, both vans would be loaded with BRUTEs by means of an electrically-powered lifting platform. This lifting platform would be positioned close to one of the several pairs of open double-doors and lowered to floor level. Then a BRUTE would be pushed on, the platform raised until it was just above the floor level of the van, and then rotated 90° which placed the platform directly above the van floor; after being lowered slightly, the BRUTE would be rolled straight into the van. When the loading was complete, the train would depart northwards some time after 5pm. --Redrose64 (talk) 15:51, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
