Comment[edit]

According to http:thejunction.org.uk[1], there still seems to be quite a number of these locos in service, mainly with the MoD, but there is no mention of this on the entry.

Claim 'first to carry unicycling lion emblem'[edit]

This is clearly incorrect on the grounds that the unicycling lion was introduced in 1949, and the first 01s were not built until 1956. I have accordingly removed this claim. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Slaffter (talkcontribs) 22:24, 10 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed, but you also removed the statement that they were the last to carry that emblem, which is quite true. --Redrose64 (talk) 23:01, 11 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Claim " still carrying their original livery of British Railways black "[edit]

There is Oxford Publishing Company(OPC)postcard no. 98 which shows 01 002 in BR Green at Holyhead Quarry on 23/7/74. So the locomotive must have been repainted into black livery between 1974 and 1981 as a historic reversion; it did not retain original black livery for whole life. --Jayceemodels (talk) 15:17, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have that postcard somewhere. I seem to recall it being a black loco on that card though; I must dig it out. --Redrose64 (talk) 22:25, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Found it (evidence: last line of caption is "Quarry on 23.7.74. Photo: A. M. Clarke"). Loco is definitely black: are you sure that your card hasn't faded? --Redrose64 (talk) 23:35, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
