This could easily be a B if the referencing was more thorough. See Derby School as an example. Welcome Victuallers 23:09, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

B Class Article?[edit]

I think this article is more or less ready to become B Class. I want to check that others agree on that, before I go ahead with re-classification. Philip.t.day (talk) 20:05, 27 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Private school[edit]

I'm certain this is a private school, not a public school. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kohran (talkcontribs) 21:16, 9 November 2006

That point has been reverted recently on the main page by Gsd2000. In England (note: not "Britain"), a public school is private. – Kieran T (talk | contribs) 14:33, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

References[edit]

I've been a bit strict and placed an "unreferenced" tag in the "Notable developments" section. Whilst the article has a healthy-sized list of references, there's little indication of which reference applies to what, which I strongly distrust in Wikipedia, since unverified claims are often added after the references and it's hard to check through all the sources to see what applies and what is in fact unsafe, even with the advantage of the timestamps on the page editing history. Anyway, the particular claim I'm most worried about is so big that I'm not sure I'd trust any of those source books anyway. It is the claim that this school "invented" the school magazine. Really? Somebody has checked the history of every other school magazine? I doubt that. – Kieran T (talk | contribs) 14:33, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It is a claim made by masters at the school at every single Open day to have occured at least in recent year. So it was most likely a student who heard this who added it to the page. The School does pay a researcher who one might assume has checked all other School Magazine histories. So obviouly that doesn't count as verification as it is based on asumption, but just to add into the equation that the researcher is there, and the claim is legitimately conveyed from teaching staff. Fair use rationale for Image:Brighton-college-armsmotto.jpg[edit]

Image:Brighton-college-armsmotto.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Fees[edit]

In the 2011 Whitaker's Almanack the termly fees for a boarder at Brighton College are recorded at £10,326, making them higher than almost any other school (including Eton, Winchester and Harrow). Is there a reason for this? Poshseagull (talk) 06:47, 2 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Brighton College has produced three England football internationals. Is football still played at the school, and is there still an Old Brightonian Football Club?Poshseagull (talk) 06:56, 2 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Issues[edit]

I've added a new sub-section on links to the LGBT community under the heading "A Part of Society"; Could someone add more information from within the school because what's available publicly appears very PR and non-descriptive. Brighton College are very brave to "out" itself like this so I'm sure we'll see a fair bit of page vandalism... 95.141.27.46 (talk) 10:49, 5 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Public Schools Act 1868[edit]

I have removed the following "It is the youngest of the original ten English public schools as defined by the Public Schools Act 1868 which derived from the Clarendon Commission of 1864." since Brighton College was not covered by the Public Schools Act 1868 - see the text at http://www.educationengland.org.uk/documents/acts/1868-public-schools-act.html --Rumping (talk) 13:35, 16 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Favour - Michael Hordern's bronze bust[edit]

I am currently in the stages of revamping Hordern's article and I would quite like to add a picture of his memorial bust into the new article. Is there currently anyone who is attending Brighton College, and who is reading this, who could take a picture of the actor Michael Hordern's bronze bust, which apparently, according to the ODNB, is currently on public view in the "Michael Hordern Room" at the college? If there is, I would be most grateful and can forward my email address on to whoever obliges. Thanks. CassiantoTalk 12:37, 23 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Brighton Grammar School[edit]

Was Brighton College connected in any way with Brighton Grammar School? I was trying to find out more about the former grammar school, but the only article on Wikipedia is about a school in Australia. Can anyone shed any light? 78.147.174.165 (talk) 16:47, 4 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
