For the past 30 years, Concordia University, in Ann Arbor, Michigan has had an event based on the Boar's Head Feast in its chapel. I figure that this is worth adding to the article.messor 14:47, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Turkeys?[edit]

Phrase "Like turkey, roasted boar was a staple of medieval banquets." Sorry, but turkeys are American birds. There were no turkeys in Europe in medieval times. The link points to the country Turkey. I've taken out "Like turkey". 75.84.98.250 (talk) 19:50, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This article is a bit of turkey itself. This citation-free exercise in fantasy desperately needs correction. One note for anyone perusing these comments: boar's head is poached, not roasted or baked, and it is essentially a giant pâté. To prepare it, the head is skinned off the bone, and the skin is filled with a forcemeat of boar's meat, truffles, and other good things. The head is then sewn up, re-shaped, and poached, or, in recent times, steamed. The dish is served chilled, sliced from the back for each serving. The skin acts as a protective layer of fat for long-term storage in cold climates. Such heads (of pig, not boar) were still commonly sold at Christmastime in England up to World War 2. Combine Article with Boar's Head Carol[edit]

The Boar's Head Carol entry currently has more in it and some sections are duplicated in both articles, while the content is not fully updated in both. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.133.12.250 (talk) 19:05, 21 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
