April 2009: major editions

I have made major editions in this article to completely translate into English its original version from the Spanish Wikipedia. I have tried to make the translation as accurate as possible, including all the figures and external links present in the Spanish version. However, any correction or improvement with further information (either in this article or in the related ones) will be welcome.
