Nashville Film Festival 2011[edit]

This film was shown at the 2011 Nashville Film Festival as well; at the end of the program Kris Kristoffersen was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 170.190.40.78 (talk) 19:42, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Major differences from novel[edit]

This film is very siginificantly different than the source novel; it is set in the present day, not the 1950s, meaning that the major plot element of the home where the major characters are squatting being lost in the near future to the impoundment of a Tennessee Valley Authority reservoir is missing; the two major female "love interest" characters are essentially combined into Hillary Duff's character and the father has run off to Nashville rather than Detroit, giving the work a considerably different tone overall. 170.190.40.78 (talk) 19:46, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
