Bossa nova?[edit]

Re: "The bossa nova is a Brazilian music style which, with its associated dancing forms, had enjoyed a vogue in the U.S from the late 1950s."

What "associated dancing forms"? Certainly bossa nova was very popular in the early sixties, and this song would appear to be an attempt to capitalize on that popularity, but it doesn't seem actually to have had a clue about the form. The music in the song is not the slightest bit like bossa nova, and the lyric keeps harping about a bossa nova dance. People have no doubt danced to bossa nova, but as far as I know there is no dance called "bossa nova". It's telling that the 'bossa nova Wikipedia article mentions dance not at all.

1) I'm going to delete the phrase "with its associated dancing forms" for now, and if someone can find a source clearly referencing bossa nova dancing forms it can go back with the citation.

2) I'd like the article to say that "Blame it on the Bossa Nova" is not a bossa nova song (despite the title), but I don't have a source. If anyone can find one, please either edit the article accordingly or leave the source here. Thanks. TheScotch (talk) 10:00, 11 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
