References[edit]

This article needs to refer to references (books, magazine articles, newspaper articles, official Coast Guard web site, etc) to establish the verifiability of the topic. Original research is generally not allowed so you need to be able to establish that you are summarizing facts and findings of others, not reporting your original information or interpretations. Also, you may want to familiarize yourself with the WP:Manual of style and Wikipedia:Your first article to make the best and most presentable articles possible. Thanks and have fun on wikipedia. Hi Thatcher131, I finally created an account, like you suggested. I am the same user that previously cleaned up London_Steverson. I've started researching this topic to find references (you'll notice I've added several already) and once my research phase is completed I plan on starting to work on the text of the article too. Thanks for taking an interest in this article; I think that it is an important subject, but it does need some help. -- Argon233 22:39, 31 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Article cleanup[edit]

Ichbinalj, I disagree with your removing the cleanup tag on this article. This article still contains a large amount of content which appears non-encyclopedic in it's current form. I feel that it still needs the added visibility that the cleanup tag brings, if for no other reason then to get more people involved with working on it. I have no interest in having any conflict with you, especially since you have contributed most of the good material on this article & on London Steverson, so rather than put it back myself, I'm asking you to please add the cleanup tag back. If you are unsure on how to do this, please let me know on this page & I will put it back for you. -- Argon233 T @ C  U   22:15, 7 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The wikify tag that was removed yesterday should also be added back in. Thanks, -- Argon233 T @ C  U   22:43, 7 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

(Fm: Ichbinalj) Your comments are well taken, and I agree with you. You obviously are a professional at this sort of thing. If you would, please put the tag back. Let us continue to try to improve the article.Ichbinalj 22:49, 10 April 2006 (UTC) 10 April 2006.[reply]

Ok, I just added the tags back in. Hopefully we'll be able to attract more participants to contribute to this important subject. Also thank you for the complement about my appearing to be a professional atthis; I try my best, but I'm still relativly new at this. Thanks again,

As you see above, I'm still working on avoiding typo's, etc... :-) Argon233 T @ C  U

Jarvis L. Wright[edit]

"The Coast Guard Academy admitted its first Black, Jarvis L. Wright, into the Corps of Cadets in 1955. He later resigned for medical reasons. Since there is not a lot of data on Jarvis Wright, he is typically left out of most historical references to the Coast Guard Academy. " - is the content now. But do we a) know he really left for medical reasons? And b) If he did, is it so weird to not mention him anymore, ie is it not wrong to say he is not mentioned because of little data? Greswik 20:31, 30 March 2007 (UTC) c) did he really exist? d) was he black? Some pictures or documentations would really clarify all this.[reply]

NPOV removed[edit]

The article changed significantly since Dec. 2007, I've removed the NPOV template, please use {{POV-section}} or better yet {{POV-statement}} for statements and detail issues here. This will help address them quickly. - RoyBoy 03:54, 13 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
