Recognized by Israel in 2004[edit]

If I'm not mistaken, that means that prior to 2004 it was an unrecognized village ineligible for basic services - even ambulances and firefighters - and literally "off the map" in Israel. In fact I seem to recall reading that Bir Haddaj was declared a "closed military area" in 1978 and the inhabitans shipped off to a virtual concentration camp in Wadi el Na'am; decades later they managed, at great personal risk, to re-occupy the Bir Haddaj land and prevent it from being converted into a large farm (owned by a Jew, of course, not a Bedouin), although they were threatened with expulsion from Israel outright. Ah yes, [1] here's where I read that, in a submission to the UN from two Israeli Arab groups. (See note 22 on page 12.) Perhaps all that's worthy of mention...? <eleland/talkedits> 03:36, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Issues[edit]

Going through the article, I've noticed some pretty obvious problems relating to both relevancy to the specific subject (Bir Hadaj) and WP:NPOV. I'm going to try to address them, just wanted to list the issues here first. The History section provides a some form of context, but nothing about Bir Hadaj itself. We could keep some of it for background purposes, but it will be merged with some small parts of the section "Bedouin settlement," which also has a lot of stuff about Negev Bedouins in general and not Bir Hadaj. "Creation" will also be merged with "History" because there's no need for a separate stub section, especially because the heading gives the impression the town was "created" in 2004, despite having been established decades before (correction: decade before). It was only recognized by the state in 2004. The "Illegal construction" section has major POV problems, starting with the title itself. The first passage in the section, which is written in a biased manner, is backed by a non-RS (Facebook). The rest of the section is completely one-sided, like much of this article, giving the views of the Israeli government. The view of the residents and the larger Arab-Israeli community is nowhere to be found. Instead, the article paints a picture depicting the residents of the greater area as being squatters, while ignoring any mention of it being their traditional grazing area and living space for centuries. --Al Ameer 04:39, 17 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
