This article needs an edit, it is using "Biopterin" referring both to TetraHyrdroBiopterin (aka BH4) and also referring to true Biopterin this being the degraded form of TetraHydroBiopterin. This is confusing and in places incorrect. --Leopardtail (talk) 22:33, 15 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Bipterin and rabies - SciAm article[edit]

Is it concluded that the deficiency in the case referenced in the SciAm article was due to the rabies itself, or something else specific to her case? Given that it is an anecdotal case, I suppose that would be supported by animal studies of rabies. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jimw338 (talkcontribs) 17:46, 26 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Biopterin synthesis[edit]

The article states that Biopterin is synthesised in several tissues, including the pineal gland. However, the gene atlas at http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:PBB_GE_GCH1_204224_s_at_fs.png shows no expression of GCH1, which carries out the initial step of the synthesis and appears to be the main point of regulation for synthesis, in the brain. I also see little value in stating that synthesis occurs in the pineal gland, unless its role there can be expanded upon later in the article. 192.76.7.200 (talk) 11:00, 5 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
