This page is relevant since Bimbo Jet has popularized a song to the extent that it is widely known in popular culture. A song that has been featured in the movies Police Academy. When I travelled in Europe during Octuber of 2007, I heard it three times in Spain and Germany and was very surprised a wiki page did not exist. I decided to create this page as the song is experiencing a rebirth of popularity.
As part of my research for creating this page, I was very surprised to discover that Bimbo Jet's song, El Bimbo, was actually created three to four years earlier by Ahmad Zahir, a very little known fact by the larger of society. I feel it is important for other people to step up and improve the catalog of knowledge surrounding Bimbo Jet and their songs El Bimbo and La Balanga.
While El Bimbo as a song probably deserves it's own page, I will watch this page develop and hope somebody takes that effort. I should mention that the original Ahmad Zahir version is featured in the recent film, The Kite Runner.

In the three years since I created this page, it has gone off topic. Please keep in mind that this page is about a music group and their performances but not about other groups or movies that featuring songs covered by other artists. Maybe a page should be created for the song "El Bimbo"

There is very little, if any, credible evidence that Ahmad Zahir, and not Claude Morgan, wrote El Bimbo. I believe the confusion stems from the fact that 1)Zahir's cover of El Bimbo called Tanha Shodam Tanha was included in his album called Lylee and 2)some Web sites list date Lylee with a 1971 release date. That is almost certainly a typo or a poorly transcribed text from a printed album sleeve or another original sources: 1971 vs 1977. The French copyright agency SACEM lists Morgan as the composer of El Bimbo and unless someone is interested in proving that he plagiarized it, this perceived controversy should be deemphasized. I agree that this conversation takes the actual article on Bimbo Jet, Claude Morgan and "El Bimbo" off track, but as long as people attempt to white-wash (perform self-serving edits on) both the Ahmad Zahir's and this article, the facts need to be brought up. I hope somebody anywhere could verify this all. Because of the unconfirmed controversy it does deserve a mention in both this page and Ahmad Zahir's.
