forbes mention?[edit]

bethenny was listed on forbes celebrity 100, 2011. shouldnt that be worthy of mention in her article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 114.73.74.1 (talk) 22:37, 27 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

subject worthy of its own article page[edit]

She's The New York Times bestselling author of Naturally Thin and The Skinnygirl Dish. She'll be starring in her own show "Bethenney's Getting Married" debuting on June 10, 2010 on Bravo. She has a yoga DVD out now & also creator of "Skinnygirl Margerita" which is selling in stores now. She has a large following and deserves this page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Limabeany (talkcontribs) 05:10, 15 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This is the sort of article I look to Wikipedia for, and was happy to find it when I saw Ms. Frankel on Today and wanted to know her background. Please keep this page and others like it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.120.82.154 (talk) 19:02, 29 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

She's definitely worthy of her own page. She has been in two movies (not to mentioned worked as assistant on a really good third movie). She has made SEVERAL national TV appearances since becoming famous. She has been on TWO national television series, AND she has written a New York times BESTSELLING BOOK. Everyone that thinks that that isn't enough to warrant inclusion here is full of sour grapes.

She's on her second TV series, which makes her famous enough to warrant an article. Get some real bio information in here though, instead of just plugging her shows and businesses. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.81.164.153 (talk) 01:43, 17 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This does not warrant a listing. This person should be categorized under celubutard and that's it. Delete this entry. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.87.42.110 (talk) 17:52, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

this subject can be covered in a short little blurb on the pages of the reality series Apprentice or Real Housewives of NY, it does not require its own page. Also, it appears to be more of a marketing tool rather than an encyclopedic entry as it is written.

Where is her D-Horror Movie from the 80's that she starred in? Hollywood Hills 90068 or something. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.60.192.227 (talk) 21:23, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is a Free Encyclopedia, so should be the place for great figures of our time, not socialites. This pages shouldn't be the place for resumés. Please remove. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Xocasgv (talkcontribs) 02:30, 11 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Bethenny Frankel is a big name in television since the Real Housewives of OC and I think many people want to know more about who she is. Please do not remove. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.230.242.21 (talk) 02:56, 25 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

for the integrity of wiki the article should be integrated into Real Housewives. the individual cited does not merit her own page. please remove.

this tv personality should be incorporated into the read housewives page. please do not make a mockery of wikipedia by allowing anyone to post their resume here. please remove. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.84.203.162 (talk) 19:03, 29 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I went specifically looking for her bio on wiki. Besides doing the show she also has a succesful high profile business and a book. It is ridiculous to say that this should be for "great figures of our time" because that is too subjective. Who decides? Besides wikipedia references popular culture (and always has) just as much as any other cultural references. That's part of the point. Please do not remove. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.56.70.35 (talk) 17:29, 31 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I also looked specifically for her wikipedia. Regardless of her association with the Bravo television program, she is highly searched for and therefore in my opinion deserves a wiki entry. Bedwardsen (talk) 19:49, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Highly" searched for in what context, and for what reason?!? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.14.177.151 (talk) 20:37, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I was searching for her birthday because I wanted to know her astrological sign and was just curious about her. She has a book, she's been on TV, why shouldn't she have a wikipedia entry. Come on. 72.221.81.253 (talk) 03:11, 16 April 2009 (UTC) Angela M[reply]

I specifically looked on Wiki for her profile in order to find out some facts about her and her life. I have definitely found more random and completely unnecessary profiles on Wiki so to say that her page should be removed is absurd. She works closely with many stars, has been on a few well known television shows, is an author, and has a successful business. C'mon people! —Preceding unsigned comment added by MeganE2006 (talkcontribs) 21:12, 16 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

As Ms. Frankel wants her own page, relevant historical facts relating to her career should be included. The continuous removal of her film roles is inappropriate and will lead to this page being locked. If individuals are embarrassed by her contribution in these films, she should ask to have her page consolidated into the rest of the "Real Wives" page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.14.177.151 (talk) 22:19, 22 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Why SHOULDN'T there be lengthy bio information and a more substantial write up??? I can list one hundred objective reasons why there should be more included. This is a mere snapshot of the bare bones elements of her life. We need to know more about her background and past recent details that give the reader more insight and education on who Bethenny is. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.245.66.141 (talk) 23:51, 29 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

She is not interesting enough and has not done enough in her career field to warrant her own page. She is nothing more than a realtity television ass. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.173.117.125 (talk) 14:34, 9 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

this is a encyclopedia ... this page should have never been created. please remove67.167.115.205 (talk) 22:53, 12 June 2009 (UTC)Charlotte[reply]

Keep. Duh. People who have done far less, actors who have appeared in a movie or two, people who have written one book have pages. This woman is not solely a Real Housewife, putting her in that page alone is almost insulting to people who want to know what else she's done. That is the purpose of this page, to list what she's done. The purpose of this site is to find out things like this. I hate to be trite, but haters gonna hate and that's all that you're seeing here with people petitioning for removal. She meets the requirements, this is a no-brainer. 68.217.212.25 (talk) 16:42, 22 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Age?[edit]

Where has this been confirmed? If she is 38, those were ROUGH years. Looks more like 45. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.212.50.137 (talk) 20:05, 20 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The age is way off. Born in 1966. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kendall44 (talkcontribs) 07:48, 8 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

authoress? Who on earth says authoress any more? Bevsoprano (talk) 21:45, 19 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No source provided for 1966 - we're leaving this as 1970 as it's been from the beginning unless someone finds a reliable source saying otherwise. Tvoz/talk 03:00, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Age Again[edit]

What's with 1954 don't think 16 year difference from countless sources saying 1970 is feasible. SOMEBODY is messing with her through this page. she was born in 1970. she has mentioned numerous times that she just turned 40 and Bethenny, if she were older, would not lie about it. that girl is not a liar! i would say that her former co-stars on the Real Housewives of New York would lie(Jill, Kelly), and have been shown to be liars, as well as vindictive and nasty. especially toward Bethenny and her success. Bethenny and i are the exact same age(she is younger by 6 days) and she looks like a 40 year old. no older, no younger. her former co-stars(Jill, Kelly)) seem to be extremely jealous of her. she is the only one who was offered her own show and she is YOUNGER than them. hello? they live for looks, fame, money. Bethenny is of a different ilk and they are green with envy. so sad :-( —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.235.38.89 (talk) 21:49, 21 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Whether YOU believe she would "never lie" or not is completely irrelevant and is just your opinion, which does not matter here in an ENCYCLOPEDIC ENTRY. What matters are facts; saying that she is a certain age which apparently contradicts other evidence, based on "she would never lie" is ridiculous. No one cares if you like her or think the whole world is jealous of her. This isn't a celebrity fan-page. Your personal opinion has no place here, and it violates the whole point of POV guidelines. No one CARES if you think other people are "green with envy" or "jealous" because she got offered this or that. In an encylopedia, no one cares (and for valid reasons). If THAT is your reasoning for recently changing her age from whatever it was, to what it currently says, then that edit should be reversed. "That girl is not a liar". There is a reason Wikipedia has these guidelines, and it is because an encyclopedic article is not the place for some random person to air their opinion, and any information in the article shouldn't be based on some random person ('fan' or not) being in love with the subject of the article and so arbitrarily deciding "oh this CAN'T be true because he/she would NEVER lie!" If the most recent change to the "age" section was done simply because you "don't believe she would ever lie" and because we should "take your word that you've heard her say this or that" then I suggest it should be reverted back to whatever it said before. Someone should change it back. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.157.21.79 (talk) 06:24, 30 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ethnicity / religion[edit]

Bethenny's father was an ethnic Jew (and possibly religious although we have little proof other than it was important for his wife to convert), her mother was religiously Catholic but converted upon marriage (her surname was Burke). Her parents were married for 4 years and then split up. Her mother remarried a another man (with an Italian name) who was Catholic. Bethenny attended Catholic schools becasuse, as she states, her stepfather was catholic. Britanny married a catholic; she allowed her child to be baptised catholic; and states that she does not have a religion. I would suggest that she be categorized as "Category:American people of Jewish descent" rather than an "Category:American Jews." What does everyone think?Patapsco913 (talk)

Assuming you have sources for the above, I agree.--KeithbobTalk 03:44, 17 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Well...you removed the mother's name; you removed that the mother converted upon marriage; you removed that hre mother re-married to John Parisella, a Catholic; you removed that she married a Catholic; you removed that she allowed her daughter to be baptized catholic; and you removed her express statement that she does not have a religion. So what do you agree with? Patapsco913 (talk)

My comment above was in regard to a category, not in regard to the content in the article. This point about her religion and Bryn's baptism seems to be a minor point in her life and border's on fan gossip. This is reflected in the poor quality sources that have been chosen to support that info. There are dozens of articles in mainstream news papers like Boston Herald, The Washington Post, Variety, Redbook, Associated Press, Daily Herald, Hindustan Times, Seattle Post-Intelligencer and more.... and I don't see it being brought up in these reputable sources. --KeithbobTalk 16:14, 10 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I see the point re: youtube although I still think that the quote re: her religion - which was written by her - as relevant. Her husband's faith and the baptism add a little more nuance. I am not sure if you looked over the history of edits but there has been a little war over religion / ethnicity on this one which is how I waded in. Anyhow, if we only stuck to the main papers for sourcing about celebrities, we would have very little information to work with. People, USMagazine, New York Daily News, Parade still are relevant and have to play by the sames rules as the bigger papers.Patapsco913 (talk)

per WP:YOUTUBE and WP's copy vio policies we cannot use a you tube vid posted by someone who is not the creator and owner of the vid as is the case with this YT vid, no matter what the content.KeithbobTalk

Source[edit]

I've removed this source. I don't find it to be reliable per WP:RS because it is a blog/opinion piece and not a news story. The Jewish Journal: "Bethenny Frankel is Jewish? Right. Nice Baptism" by Ilana Angel March 22, 2011---It doesn't rise to the standards of a BLP in my opinion. Not when we have dozens of articles in mainstream news papers like Boston Herald, The Washington Post, Redbook, Associated Press, Daily Herald, Hindustan Times, Seattle Post-Intelligencer to choose from. We should use more reputable sources. Comments? --KeithbobTalk 16:13, 10 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Purchase price of Skinny Girl Cocktails[edit]

I think the sources are pretty clear. Yes, there was a claim by Huff Post that the sale of SGC was only $8.1 million BUT Huff Po retracted that statement. This retraction and correction was reported by Today.com and Forbes. See sources below:

  • Huff Po--CORRECTION: Our reporter misread the $8.1 million figure in the financial documents. As Forbes points out, the number refers to the amount of Skinnygirl attributed to goodwill, not the total purchase price. We regret the error[1]
  • Today--Forbes magazine and others estimated the price of acquisition of Skinnygirl cocktails by Bean Global at upwards of $100 million, but a Huffington Post blogger said that number was inflated – the deal was only worth $8.1 million. After a follow-up article in Forbes pointing out errors in the HuffPo story, the site ran a correction admitting that its number was wrong.[2]
  • Forbes--Last summer we estimated the deal was worth $100 million in a cover story. Others pegged it still higher. The latest to enter the fray is a Huffpo blogger, saying she got just $8.1 million..........“The $8.1 million was just the amount of intangible assets purchased in the Skinnygirl transaction, essentially the amount Beam paid for the Skinnygirl brand rights—not the total purchase price,” says Morningstar analyst R.J. Hottovy, who follows the company and worked with us on our original reporting.[3]

Health[edit]

Shouldn't there be some kind of mention about her health in her personal life section? On season 8 and 9 she clearly was going through some sort of illness. --Matt723star (talk) 03:11, 18 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Needs to be covered in some sort of WP:RS to add into the article. If you can find anything, you can be WP:BOLD and add it in or you can ask somebody on the talk page to add in if you provide examples of the sources.
