Comment[edit]

Thank god the Internet is still the place for amateurs. I went to the "official" site to get some jpgs for this film and was rewarded with annoying samples blaring out of my speakers and the option to (a) see the trailer; and (b) go to Def Jams' official site. A little more searching turned up a "fan" site that had images, sounds, articles on the movie and a listing of the box office returns. My hat's off to whoever created the fine site; so much so, that I will plug it not just at the bottom of the page but here as well: click here to go to the unofficial Belly website that is much, much better than the real website.
Now, then. This movie held two real surprises for me, one of which was how bad it was. The other surprise is how, after a gang of toughs rob a nightclub, they come back to somebody's crib and turn on the TV and come in on the middle of Harmony Korine's Gummo. It's a great moment, as tough-eyed gangstas stare disbelievingly as two kids in cowboy hats swear and pretend to kill a young kid with bunny ears. The scene seems more a statement of comradeship than of dismissal, as if the director is promising to do the same thing for gangsta youth that Gummo did for poor white trash. He doesn't even come close.

I think it is worth noting that Sean Paul can be seen performing in the background long before he becomes main stream in USA.

Fair use rationale for Image:Belly.jpg[edit]

Image:Belly.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
