In response to your Sept 24 query, 'Auld Wull' was my grandfather, William Conn. I was born in his house at 42 Abercrombie Crescent, and I can vouch for the fact that he had a small forge, etc. in his garden shed and was well-known as a local odd-jobber, repairman and raconteur, with a sharp sardonic sense of humour (and seven children!). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.106.29.164 (talk) 00:55, 20 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sept 24th 2009 - Can anyone verify the story of Auld Wull. I have dicussed with lifelong BarG residents old enough to remember this person to no avail. Can facts be checked that this is not a confusion with a Mr Canon or Cannon who operated a forge or smithy on what is locally know as Crummies - the extension of current Mainhill rd westwards to a point now covered by the junction of M8 and M73.----
