I looked into this as an example for another page. There are lots of potential sources, if you look in the local and regional newspapers. None of them are especially impressive, but they could be used to expand the article:

A story about the principal, who just published a book of poetry.[1]
It looks like the students attended a prayer breakfast with an ex-Mafioso,[2] and were involved in a service project.[3]
The girls' basketball team was doing pretty well,[4] until they met InterCity,[5] at least. The boys' team seems to have a bit of a reputation,[6] but they lost in the playoffs.[7] The volleyball team won the division title,[8] and a volleyball student earned all-league honors.[9]
