Unlisted is the Chronicles of Narnia BD-J (Game for sure... Enhanced menu, possibly?), but I've never learned how to edit these pages. I'll leave it up to you guys. 76.229.155.27 (talk) 16:28, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Modified the statement:

"All GEM-based standards are built on top of Java Micro Edition ("Java ME") technology, invented by Sun Microsystems and maintained and enhanced by the Java Community Process."

because it is untrue. OCAP 1.0 and MHP 1.0.3 are both GEM-based and reference PersonalJava/Java 1.1.8 rather than an ME platform.

Toying around?[edit]

So, is it possible to write little java programs that run on a DVD-player? Like, a little java game or something like that? 84.59.124.244 (talk) 18:10, 18 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Insufficiently standardized[edit]

I read in c't (German version) that bd-j is insufficiently standardized and that programmers never know in advance before testing on many player models whether a Java application works on all models. So all new movies first have to be tested on many different player models which is of course tedious and costly.

Moreover some players do not have the resources to execute extensive Java codes, resulting in long load times or worse. Using bd-j had been discouraged, because of these problems, so that is why there so much few bd-j enhanced movies when compared to HD DVD.

The only bright side of the story is that all works fine on the PS3 and that bd-j offers many possibilities. Andries (talk) 19:36, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
