What's in a Name?[edit]

It's intriguing that there is similarity between kuih and bánh da lợn, at least in terms of Old Vietnamese. This sweet pastry is a Southern Vietnamese creation yet it uses "lợn" a Northern Vietnamese term for the pig instead of "heo". There is an even older Vietnamese word "cúi" meaning pig. Could there be some link between the Malay kuih and the Vietnamese cúi? Duyet-pho 21:22, 2 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
