Questions / clarifications about some of the changes I just made[edit]

Hi there!

I just made a round of edits for clarity / idiom. Among other things, in many places I replaced "bullets" with "cartridges" or "ammunition." Not trying to be *too* pedantic, but the occasional use of "bullet" makes more sense when it's clear that the factory was producing complete cartridges, not only the bullets per se.

One thing that I have not yet tried to rephrase or fix: this article, as I read it, implies that primers were added to the bullets after they were otherwise assembled. While I am not an expert enough to say this is absolutely impossible, it seems to be highly implausible. Primers can sometimes be triggered by poor alignment when being assembled, and at least in the small-scale reloading I've done and in other descriptions I've read of factory ammunition production, the addition of the powder and seating of the bullet would always come after the insertion of a primer. (This may not apply to all kinds of ammunition, but for small arms cartridges, I would be surprised by any other system. For one thing, the primer seals the bottom of the cartridge, so powder does not simply fall through ....so unless the cartridges are inverted for the seating of the primer, it just doesn't make sense to me.)

No years, dates, substance[edit]

Very little on the history of the place (Hebrew and German Wiki don't have more either).

1939: what was established there? The photos clearly show the creation of a "Tower and Stockade"-type fortified position on 1 January 1939 (date provided by JNF along with photos), but there is nothing about a settlement there in the article, just about a kibbutz training camp. Was there a settlement? Or just a training camp w/o permanent population? Very unusual for Tower and Stockade, probably the only example. Or was it meant as a fortified defensive position overlooking Rehovot?
How was it called, Khirbet Samach/Samakh/Samah(?) (see JNF-provided caption for tower photo), Ayalon, Kibbutz Hill,...? English Google has no hit for Kh. Samach/kh in connection to Rehovot or Ayalon, there is only a Kh. Samah near Hanuta, very different place. But "ruined Fish Village" can be a very common Arabic name, if I got the meaning of "Samakh" right.
When did a permanent population move in? 1945 or before?
How was the kibbutz called? Certainly not Ayalon "Institute". Just Ayalon, so Kibbutz Ayalon? Or was that just (part of) the conspiratorial name? Arminden (talk) 11:45, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
