September 11th 2001, Terrorist Attacks section[edit]

User:Eeeby has now twice added a huge and unsourced section under this title. The section seems to be entirely WP:OR and WP:SYNTHESIS. I have already removed it once under WP:V but he or she has reverted that removal without explanation. To gain a consensus I have brought it here for discussion. I would like to hear from anyone who thinks it should be retained. - Ahunt (talk) 12:19, 2 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This user has now removed most of the citation needed tags without providing a reference. I have restored the tags, but it seems to support that there are no refs available to support this text. - Ahunt (talk) 14:21, 5 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
A week has now passed since removing this section was proposed and so in accordance with WP:SILENCE we now have a consensus to do so. Please do not put it back into the article without gaining a new consensus to do so here on the talk page. - Ahunt (talk) 12:31, 9 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Full Quote of "Aviation ..." Saying[edit]

For anyone who's curious, the full wording of Capt. A. G. Lamplugh's oft-quoted 1931 text is:

I am convinced that aviation in itself is not inherently dangerous despite anything which this paper may have indicated to the contrary, but I do personally feel that the air, to an even greater extent than the sea, is terribly unforgiving of any carelessness, incapacity or neglect.

By 'unforgiving’, I mean that the result of carelessness, neglect or over confidence are paid for more quickly and more dearly than in other forms of transport. Again I repeat, if the same keenness and knowledge and tradition which has already brought us in twenty years from our insignificant beginnings in the air to the present standard is utilised in preventing unnecessary accidents we can, with confidence, look forward to the time when Great Britain creates the same position for herself in the air as she has done on the sea."

From a 1931 issue of Flight here: [1] ... with Page 1 of the article itself; Accidents in Civil Aviation here: [2]— Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.7.147.13 (talk) 20:50, 29 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Personal passenger insurance?[edit]

I remember that people used to buy travel life insurance specifically for flying aboard planes, shouldn't that also be covered here? (for example, see the movie "Airplane!" where a mad bomber buys flight insurance prior to boarding a plane to blow it up, this is the type of insurance I am referring to) -- 67.70.35.44 (talk) 08:34, 6 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

That is probably better to be covered under Life insurance. - Ahunt (talk) 17:41, 6 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Bad reference[edit]

Reference #2 ""International Union of Aerospace Insurers (IUAI)". December 2010." is giving a 404 error. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nrjank (talkcontribs) 14:36, 10 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for pointing that out  Fixed - Ahunt (talk) 14:51, 10 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
