But it's obvious: it was moved on the grounds that the primary meaning of Ave Maria is the prayer itself, rather than any of its settings. I don't quite understand. This is the English encyclopedia, so the article about the 'original' should be under Hail Mary, which is a common enough term to use it. In /English/, when most people -- at least from my observation -- use Ave Maria, they are referring to something in this disambig. ♫ Melodia Chaconne ♫ (talk) 18:07, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article should be under whichever of Ave Maria or Hail Mary is more usual (it is perfectly possible for the Latin loan phrase to be most common in English; compare Adeste Fideles and Dies Irae - where else would you expect the latter to be?). But, in either case, someone looking for either should wind up at that article. From there, those who are looking for a particular setting can go to the dab page; the article should also have a list of links to settings - in See Also if nowhere else. By Offenbach?[edit]

Though obscure, apparently there is indeed such a work; see https://www.musikfestspielesaar.de/index.php/programm-2019/archiv/programm-2019/2-uncategorised/56-21-19-jacques-offenbach and http://www.offenbachmuseum.com/1/la_boutique_du_musee_1064221.html?id_pagina=&product=43723. However, this is a disambiguation page, not a list of all Ave Maria's, so it ought not be listed here, at least not until it appears in List of compositions by Jacques Offenbach with reliable sources.
