Merger discussion[edit]

That page has not any translation in german language, the page austrians in the german version refers to the "Österreichische Identität" so would be more accurate merge the page austrians nationalism with the page of austrians. in Austria there are not any austrian nationalistic parties or people, usually the parties considered to be so as FPOE, they are pangermanistic nationalist TizStriz (talk) 00:20, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose, however The German WP is irrelevant in this question, altogether you have some remarkable points, since Austrian national conscience and identity exists only from 1945. This article also looks into the background, historically between of the rivarly of German states, including the Archduchy of Austria and the Austrian Empire, as well concerning post WWI-Austria, where the question of union with Germany raised such issues, however, the ethnic German-being and identity was never questioned then. Maybe the article should be expanded to post 1945 happenings, until today.(KIENGIR (talk) 22:32, 20 July 2020 (UTC))[reply]
  • Oppose, English Wikipedia shouldn't be guided by other Wikipedias but by its own standards. Austrians are still an identifiable group with "ethnic/cultural group#-like characteristics and history backed by myriads of sources. Add to that the fact that they have and have had a state in which they differentiate between themselves and minorities; how they choose to identify beyond that is secondary. Bavarians, Swabians, Swiss Germans, Danube Swabians, etc. all have their own articles, stands to reason in my mind that Austrians should too, they are hardly different. • Oppose per WP:CONSPLIT. Austrian nationalism appears to be a distinct and notable subject. Krakkos (talk) 19:47, 3 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose this article is notable enough. Super Ψ Dro 16:02, 17 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose, because those are two very different subjects. Sorabino (talk) 05:18, 1 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
