Lap records[edit]

I have just made a few changes to 69 to 88 entries on the ==List of Australian Formula 2 Champions== but also have a couple of concerns re the pre 69 and post 88 entries.

The pre 69 champions shown would appear to have been confused with the winners of the Australian Formula 1½ Litre Championship which was run between 1964 & 1968. In this period there were separate formulae (and championships) for AF2 (under 1100cc) and AF1½ Litre (under 1500cc). There were AF2Cs held before 1969 but only two, in 1964 and 1965.

I have a number of historical references which support the above. A look at http://www.camsmanual.com.au/pdf/1403_0701.pdf is also worthwhile although CAMS have mistakenly used the term 1 Litre Championship instead of 1½ Litre Championship.

As for the post 88 champions, this has me a little confused as CAMS did not award a national title for AF2 after 88. If the post 88 winners are to be included we should at least ackowledge that they are not officially recogised by the national motor sport authority. However I don't think that state title winners should be included here.

I propose that

The existing champions 64 to 68 be removed

The actual AF2 chmapions for 64 & 65 be added

A rider be added to the post 88 winners

The state winners be removed

I'm would be happy to do this if there are no objections

Lap records[edit]

Chris Farrell's Ralt RT4 is a Cosworth powered FAtlantic, how did it get to be an AF2 lap record holder? Falcadore 07:45, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I found the Morgan Park record on this website. http://www.morganparkraceway.com.au/records.htm Doesnt mean it's correct. I also have some old lap record of the Winton short course that have faster AF2 laps than on this site and on the Winton website. I shall look them up. XBGS351, 24 August 2007
Peter Glover,Cheetah Mk7 Gemini, Winton, 2.09km, March 27 1983, 66.5s Source is 1983/84 Australian Motor Racing Yearbook. Did the track change? XBGS351, 25 August 2007
Ian Richards, Richards Golf, 1m08.5s, Sandown Park, 3.1km April 17, 1983 Source is 1983/84 Australian Motor Racing Yearbook.
The fastest F2/Formula R lap time recorded on Queensland Raceways National circuit in 2006 was a 1:15.3300 recorded by Craig Smith (Reynard 913 Golf) but QR's lap records are hard to determine as there is a three year gap in their record keeping. --Falcadore 03:13, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Arthur Abrahams - was he racing AF2 in 1993m or have they got Af2 and F3 mixed up.http://www.thesupercarexperience.com.au/ciropt.html —Preceding unsigned comment added by Xbgs351 (talkcontribs) 08:05, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Renaming "Australian Formula Two" page as "Australian Formula 2"[edit]

Given that CAMS uses the term "Australian Formula 2" [1] and that the AF2 Club uses the term "Australian Formula 2" [2] I feel that we should rename this page accordingly.

National series[edit]

The final paragraph of the first section now contractdicts itself, it says it has shrunk from a national series to a state series, but oh wait there actually is a national series. Xbrgs351 could you please fix? Can it reall claim to have shrunk though is there is a national series and a state series in both New South Wales and Queensland? --Falcadore 06:18, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Magnum[edit]

Where were they manufactured? Xbgs351 02:47, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Australian Motor Racing Year 1988/89" tells us that Neil Israel drove a Magnum 863 in the 1988 AF2C (which was also the 1988 ADC!!). www.f3history.co.uk [[3]] says that the Magnum 863 was a British creation. GTHO 10:11, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
