The Picture

The current picture has to be the worst one i've ever seen, and doesn't depict Ashley very well. it looks like Lindsay Lohan at a party in Ashley Tisdale's body, singing at her concert...While drunk...and thinking of an evil plot to kill someone. we definitely need a better picture. post here if you agreeSuperWiki5 17:02, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

I agree there needs to be a way better picture.KyleRog

Concerning the birth year vandalism

I've tried reading up on Wikipedia:Vandalism, but fail to understand exactly how to report the vandalism of User:81.228.180.110. I am asking, if anyone knows how to properly report the vandalism in the correct procedure, please do so. --Doomstars 20:42, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

I've removed the "She hates Celery" sentence. It was added by the same person who added some other defacement. I've not been able to find any source that claims Her birth year is verifiable by going to http:// . tisdale.com/interviews/herald/Miami_Herald.jpg and looking at the talk and contrib pages for details. You might consider reverting their edits to this talk page, etc. Blimpguy 01:37, 13 February 2006 (UTC)
It's true that she hates celery. She said so in her interview with Life Story magazine. Sundancin (talk) 23:46, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
Is that encyclopedic, though? Compare it with George H. W. Bush's comments about hating broccoli, which resulted in significant media coverage. —C.Fred (talk) 23:50, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Birth Location

This concerns the issues regarding her birth location. Her official site seems to verify that she was born in Monmouth County, New Jersey. The very fact she posted that news article on her site seemingly verifies it. However, as someone cited the Mercury News as a source for the West Deal birth location (which although is in Monmouth County, doesn't necessarily prove she was born in that city, if a city at all.), it doesn't necessarily prove it. That's the only url. I contacted the author of that article, and received a reply stating that it was verified with IMDB.com and other sources. I am awaiting to find out which other sources if the person replies at all again. IMDB.com isn't reliable as I've found out in the past. --Doomstars

I added the reference and I will note that the IMDB isn't reliable for anything at all and shouldn't be used as a source, so if a writer cited that as a source that's not good news. Mad Jack 07:53, 10 June 2006 (UTC)
The author from the Mercury News said he used "found the information on IMDB.com" and then "verified it with other sources". Like I said, I'm waiting to see if he will tell me the other sources. The issue I have is how the West Deal thing got put on IMDB.com. Unlike Wikipedia, IMDB.com doesn't PUBLICALLY list the sources of the information that are used in conjunction of submitting the information. Secondly, since Ashley Tisdale's official website had a screenshot (or whatever the appropriate word is to use) of a newspaper/magazine article listing "Monmouth County" as her birth location, that is what it should go by until we find something on her official site stating West Deal. (I find it unlikely for her official site to ever intentionally post inaccurate information, lest it be an embarrassment to the web author.)--Doomstars 09:35, 10 June 2006 (UTC) ;)
They don't publically list the sources because a lot of the time there are none. :) Anyway, in agreement with you I'll remove the birth place until the author responds with the other sources. Mad Jack 16:32, 10 June 2006 (UTC)
I received a reply about the other source. The author mentioned that High School Musical's PR (public relations?) was contacted, so that's a good enough source to change the information to West Deal.--Doomstars 00:23, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

According to a 2006 issue of Seventeen Magazine, Ashley Tisdale was born in Point Pleasant, New Jersey.

Ashley told Life Story magazine twice that she was born in Monmouth County, NJ. Hope this helps! Sundancin (talk) 00:16, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Contradiction?

The article currently says: Ashley wanted the part of either Maddie or London because she wanted to work with Brenda Song and Dylan and Cole, the Sprouse twins. How could she have known she was going to work with Brenda Song, who plays London, if the role of London hadn't been cast yet? --Metropolitan90 06:20, 21 February 2006 (UTC)

  • I've deleted that sentence due to no response to that question after three weeks. --Metropolitan90 07:09, 15 March 2006 (UTC)

Actually, she did want to work with the twins, i read it on one of her official sites. i just thought you might want to know. Tini Feb.17,2007

Brenda probably wanted the same thing, and auditioned for one of the roles. Ashley probably auditioned for the same roles as Brenda.. Megan :) 06:18, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Ashley did want to work with Dylan and Cole, ever since watching one of their early movies. One source I have seen says that Ashley and Brenda both tried out for Maddie and London. Another source claims Disney gave the role of London to Brenda without an audition because she had already been in several Disney movies and shows, so they knew she would be good for the part. I have not heard any other views, and one of these came from Ashley herself. I will try to find out with one it is. Sundancin (talk) 00:18, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Little Help Please

Hi i was wondering if any of u know how i can change a picture in Wikipedia simple terms. I really wanna know.

Thanks

Baby16 22:37, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

See Wikipedia:Uploading images. Keep in mind, if you did not create the image, the image must be fair use. You must also know who the copyright holder is and where the image came from, as well as cite that information on the image page. You must provide a reasonable, accurate, and detailed fair use rationale for each intended use of the image on Wiki. If you don't do this, you'll quickly find the image deleted. I'd suggest talking to User:Yamla. Yamla is very knowledgeable about this sort of thing and can help you immensely. - Debuskjt 22:46, 8 September 2006 (UTC)
If you have an image you are planning on using, you may want to post its URL here first and give what information you have (copyright holder, planned license, etc.) and we can let you know if it is okay to use the image on the Wikipedia. Note that because we already have one image in the article, any additional image needs to be used for a specific purpose, not just to depict Tisdale. --Yamla 22:51, 8 September 2006 (UTC)
See! I told you he knew more about this than me. - Debuskjt 22:55, 8

Ashley was named Best Actress/Most Likely to be a Movie Star by her Valencia High School graduating class of 03. In honor of Ashley's success her alma mater asked her to host their 2006 Homecoming Game where she crowned the new King and Queen.

Hi, I originaly replaced an image that was unsourced with a new promotional photo. Since doing that, it appears that it has been changed to a different image, also with no source information (Thought it appears to be promotional). If the image is tagged properly by the uploader, I'm fine with leaving it in the article, but I don't think it displays Ashley as best we could. That's because although Zac Efron has said there is going to be one, it hasn't been officially confirmed by Disney. even if the whole world knows it, until it is announced by Disney themselves, we can't add it. =/ I'm Kinda Awesome... —Preceding signed but undated comment was added at 21:46, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

The article for The Suite Life of Zack and Cody says she is a natural blond, yet wears a wig for Maddie. Can anyone verify this? Mooski Magnus 02:15, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

She does not wear a wig but her hair is naturally brown. KyleRog

  • Ashley was a brunette until being cast as Maddie. She then died her hair blond to fit the character more better and has currently still got her blond hair due to her role as Sharpay Evans. It may be likely she'll keep her blond hair for good? AquafireGal 22:51, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

I know why. When Ashley Tisdale auditioned for the role of Maddie on Sutie Life, she had brown curly hair, but Maddide`s hair HAD to be blonde and straight. SO she had it died, her hair is still brown when at home, but when out in public she has it blown out or something to make it blonde then she takes a shower and it goes away. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.85.228.16 (talk) 19:57, August 29, 2007 (UTC)

Disney told Ashley that she had to die her hair for the part of Maddie. The comment from the last user about her only dying her hair when she goes out is completely untrue. Her hair is so delecate from dying it blonde and straitening it (it is very curly), she cannot dye it back to its original color yet. She has dyed it a very light brown for her movie Picture This but cannot go darker because her hair is too brittle. Sundancin (talk) 00:25, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Dancing With The Stars

I was watching Dancing With The Stars and I saw Ashley Tisdale along with Zac Efron watching Monique Coleman dance!

Okay?

Ashley tisdale was only casted for anything because she is a blond. She is not even a natural blond. It is not fair for all the other great brunettes!

How dare you say something like that... you are the most moronic person i've ever heard of... she's a great actress, and has a great personality, THAT'S why she was casted. Just because you like brunettes, doesn't mean she was cast because she was blond, think before you say something next time, and not all brunettes are actresses dumbass... DUH! and she wasn't always blonde and she was casted before, research this stuff before you make a comment like this....75.67.128.65 14:23, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

I totally agree. She is a great actress and very hot. Think before you speak retard

Disney made Ashley dye her hair for the part of Maddie. She didn't want to. Her hair is naturally brown. She wants to dye her hair back to its original color, but it is so brittle from dying it and straightening it, she could only dye it light brown for her upcoming moive, Picture This. If you still don't believe this, read the section about it instead of posting this in the wrong area! Sundancin (talk) 00:28, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

I believe the link has been fixed now. It now links to American Jews. Nishkid64 18:34, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

Ashley is of Jewish ancestory but she does not practice the Jewish religion. I don't know if this should be mentioned in the article. She does have a Kabbalah bracelet, though. 75.181.43.225 (talk) 20:38, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Doubt?

I am currently registered in GreatestCities [3] and some users are pretending to be Ashley. (like ashleym_tisdale) Is this notable for her (the real Ashley, not the fake one) biography. Please answer on my talk page. Thank you. - Emir214 13:17, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

Unreleased album tracks

Two of her unreleased album tracks, "Be Good to Me" and "He Said, She Said" were recently in rotation on "promosquad.com". Should this be included in the article? I don't want to take up any more space than there already is.

Also, the part about her career is extremely messy, with all the superscripted notes and long sentences. I'll split parts of it into paragraphs to make for easier reading. If anyone objects, tell me why (for personal feedback). Thanks. Mirrorblade 12:43, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

If you have a reliable source for the promosquad information (and promosquad would be reliable), I don't think it's a problem to add. Just make sure you don't kill any references while cleaning up. That's been an issue in the past. - Debuskjt 17:36, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
Hmm... reading your changes, I think you've gone too far with splitting it out. Now all the paragraphs are one to two sentences, making it feel very fragmented. A reorganization would have probably been better than simply splitting it apart. - Debuskjt 17:41, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
What about that? Also makes room to add new information about Tisdale's upcoming albums and performances. - Debuskjt 17:56, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

Recent Rewrite

I personally think the article was better before the rewrite. i think we should revert it back, but i'd like to get other opinions on it first. Malevious 01:32, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

Obviously, since I did it, I disagree. The information that was removed is either readily available in linked articles or unencylopediac fancruft (such as hair dye information). However, since I strongly feel that your breakout of the article into one or two sentence chunks was unsatisfactory, I'd suggest reverting back to the November 4, 2006 version of the article for reversion if other editors agree with you. - Debuskjt 14:55, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

Is this kinda creepy?

Well, Ive been thinking that its kind of strange how she plays a high schooler on the Suite Life of Zack and Cody, when in real life she's actually 21? I'm 100% sure she's 21, because i found it out on a teen-based magazine. If u agree please say so here. If u know why this is happening, also please say so.I totallly agree with u!!Gymnast90295 01:09, 17 February 2007 (UTC)gymnast90295 —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.170.93.169 (talk) 07:43, 10 December 2006 (UTC). I know that she was in High School Musical, and she had an album called,"Come Back To Me"

How old do you think the cast of Dawson's Creek was when they played 15 year olds? Or Jesse Bradford in Swimfan? Clockstoppers? It's not uncommon for actors to play teenagers at all. - Debuskjt 02:19, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

As u all c.............ashley tisdale is currently staring on The Suite Life of Zack and Cody with Brenda Song, Dylan and Cole Sprouse, Phil Lewis, and Kim Rhodes and many more. She plays Maddie, the candy counter girl, who is not rich and babysits Zack and Cody (Dylan and Cole) when Carrie(Kim Rhodes) does singing concerts —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.140.115.99 (talkcontribs).

I was looking at Rappers and i came Across a Rapper Name Young Infamous and it say that they were dating but there not just friend he a UnderGround Rap Artist

Really, that's not uncommon. Not my preference, but that's because often if they want an adolescent boy playing a high-school freshman, for example, they are likely to cast a 16-year old (in that case, to prevent the likely of the actor's voice possibly cracking in the middle of a scene).

WAVY 10 16:34, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

That is just another example of why she's so pretty, she looks like a 16 year old! and she's short, so it gives her the appearance of a 16 year old. Which was why she was casted.

She actually is short because of some kind ofdisorder she has. She admitted this on last year's Disney Channel Games. She was cast as a 16-year-old because she looks younger. This is very common. For example, Lucas Grabeel and Monique Coleman from High School Musical were both around 25 while filming the first movie. By the way, AShley is not 21; she's 22. Sundancin (talk) 00:32, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Are you sure that's true? She doesn't look short to me, then agian everyone is using digital effects nowadays. Do you have another source about this? 68DANNY2 (talk) 15:14, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

New Picture

Hey everyone. The previous picture of Ashley was so bad that I put the front cover of Headstrong as the main picture with the caption, Ashley Tisdale on the front cover of her debut album, Headstrong. This is just temporary until we get a better picture. If anyone has new pictures, post the site here. Thanks! 68DANNY2 (talk) 21:49, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

It's not a matter of liking the picture ... it's a matter of legality. We can't use a copyrighted album cover picture to discuss anything but the album. It's a copyright violation to use the cover as an illustration of an article on Ashley Tisdale. The picture that is used may not be good, but it has the proper licensing to be used.Kww (talk) 15:07, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
Okay. If you are looking for a new photo of her, try to get one of her with light brown hair. Those photos are probably the most recent. 68DANNY2 (talk) 15:55, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
Well, I'm sure whoever takes the picture will know how recent it is. Since basically, to get a picture of her in the article, the photographer has to upload it (and license it under GFDL/CC). —C.Fred (talk) 17:25, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

Trivia

I added a trivia sectuion a while back but someone rmoved it citing "reverted" i saw an interview of her on Conan O'Brian where she mentioned that her family made her work as a teenager, not uncommon in Jewish families where work-ethic tends to be somthing that is culturally nurtured. She stated that she has worked as a salesperson at Abercrombie & Fitch, Hollister, and Wet Seal. She said she chose those places becuase to liked to work at the places she liked to buy clothes at, at whatever given time so as to receive the discount. When O'Brian asked that if her family wanted her to work to "learn the value of the dollar," she agreed. It was also mentioned that she is the niece of Ron Popeil, somthing that is mentioned on his article. Popeil is famous for selling gadgets though infomertials, in the interview she stated that she owned every single of her uncle's inventions, however she did not know if they worked because she has never used any of them. In the same interview O'Brian asked her about turning 21 and she said she spent it at home with family and that she has never dranken. The interview was only a few months ago, so she is definatly 21. I am going to readd this information, it would be helpful if anyone knows how to get a transcript of that show to set this all in stone.Qrc2006 21:39, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

I think it was probably removed because of WP:TRIVIA - i.e. trivia sections are not recommended. I'll move the information (which is certainly true) to "Early life". Mad Jack 22:25, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

Oh, I know that a ton of articles have them, but they shouldn't (i.e. see Wikipedia:Avoid trivia sections in articles). funny fact: Ashley Tisdale shares her birthday with another child star/disney star- the star is Lindsay Lohan, also born July 2- but Ashley Tisdale is older than her by one year as Ashley was born in 1985 as Lohan on the other hand, was born in 1986. Ashley Tisdale writes with her left hand shown in the episeode where her and London are working in the chicken store.

Ashley is very talented, and many people agree. She is not horrible, and she does not have a CD just because she's in HSM. The movie was her "big break", so to speak, and it opened doors for her that simply weren't open before. Her being asked to record an album has nothing to do with the fact she was in HSM. Please think before you speak next time, and don't take up space like this to say cruel things about others. Ashley is a very good actress and singer, and I support her 100%. Should we add the fact that both Ashley and Jared are dating? Since the relationship seems to be official, I think it might be a good idea if we put that information there. Plus, someone should start an article on Jared, and put that there, too. Calebaldwinjun9 01:29, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

There's no article at M (magazine), so I can't quite determine what M is...other than likely not reliable. And remember, if she hasn't told anyone, then it hasn't been reported in a reliable source, which means it isn't allowed to go in the article. —C.Fred (talk) 03:49, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

M Magazine has a habit of twisting things. Girls Life is more reliable, and it has a lot of uncoffirmed rumors in it. Just because it's in tabloids doesn't make it true. I do know, however, that it has been confirmed very recently. I will work on a source. Sundancin (talk) 00:43, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Would the Alt. Time 100 be considered an award?

If so, than this girl got #99, right above Dog the Bounty Hunter. Technically, its not the normal list, but it's still something worth saying. What do you think? Abcw12 08:34, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

What on earth is the "Alt. Time 100"?Kww 13:07, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
The Alt Time 100 is the "other" list of most influencial people in the world, by our standards. Here's the complete list[5]. (Skip to the end to see her name.) Abcw12 03:50, 14 November 2007 (UTC)'
The article is humor. This is not an award. It is something that can be in the article though, as a reliable source has noted it and we can verify it. --NrDg 04:00, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
I've got to say that it falls even below the trivia line. If it was an annual feature of Time, widely noted and quoted (like the Razzies), I'd say "yes." This was a one-shot column. Otherwise, every time Ashley is the butt of a joke in a major magazine, there's a precedent for placing it in the article. She isn't much of a performer, so I foresee a long history of being the butt of jokes.Kww 12:51, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

New image

I've uploaded a new image [6] and i found it on flickr.com with a creative commons v2.0 attribution license. this is the first time i've uploaded a image on wiki and i did so because i felt that the image can be used on wikipedia as its license seems clear to me. this image is newer (oct 9 2007) than the prev. one (jan 27 2007) and also nicer !!! i suggest that issues regarding the image may be discussed here and a consensus be evolved. i've reverted to the newer image and if any problems then it shd be discussed here.Gprince007 06:56, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

The problem is that the picture is pretty obviously a professional publicity shot, and, looking at the rest of "wave rider"s portfolio, it seems that he is fond of taking other people's copyrighted material and releasing them under CCv2.0, even though he has no right to do so.Kww 09:12, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
Well it might be possible that "wave-rider" might have taken a copyrighted material and released it under CCv2.0 ...but is there a way to ascertain this???.... can anybody with clear knowledge of flickr and wiki picture licenses kindly enlighten me on this???...also i've noticed that there are tonnes of pics from flickr.com posted on wikipedia....all those pics also could've been posted as CCv2.0 without the person holding copyright....how do we decide on that??? any suggestions??? Gprince007 09:58, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
There are some common sense techniques, even thought they can be forged. The picture that is normally associated with this article is of a live performance, and carries the digital watermarking of a consumer home camera. It is plausible that this shot was taken by an audience member at a show, who would have every right to release it. If I went to the Flickr site and found a portfolio of shots by a professional photographer that used Flickr as an advertising medium, then I would also find contact information for that photographer, with links and ways to purchase his work. In this case, what I find is an empty profile, that says a guy named "wave rider" is male and single. It just doesn't make sense to believe that "wave rider" is a professional studio photographer, working with Disney cast members, that enjoys anonymously releasing his work for free.Kww 12:52, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
If you look at his Emma Watson set, some of the pictures there have website URLs embedded into the photo. That strongly suggests to me that he lifted those photos. I don't see any reason to suspect otherwise for the Tisdale photos, though I don't see any "smoking gun" that says the image is infringing. However, I think it is likely that the image is copyrighted—and thus non-free—so I favor moving the article back to the free image. —C.Fred (talk) 14:57, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
Since we are not reasonably certain that it is free and we do have a free replacement, I see no reason to use this image in the article. I thought that all flickr images uploaded had to be vetted by some trusted user before we could use them. --NrDg 15:14, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
Well this was the first time i uploaded an image on wikipedia....i believed that it was free to use but now that suspicions have been raised about the status of the image, i agree that it might not be the work of "wave-rider". however, i believe that decision for deletion be taken after some consideration becos the license does seem to be in order even though the antecedents of the photographer are unknown. However, this problem still remains as to what if other photos uploaded on wiki are also copyrighted images released on flickr by CCv2.0 license?? ....the explanation by Kww above seems fair enough in this context...anyways lets see if the image is deleted or kept...Thanx for hearing me out and next time i'll be more carefulGprince007 15:30, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

Nose job

She just got a nose job. I was going to add that to the article, but the way the article is structured I'm not sure where to put it. "Personal life" is the only place where it remotely seems to fit, but as it stands that section only covers her childhood and I think it would look awkwardly out of place to put it there; it would also give it a perhaps undue position of prominence in the article. Ideas? Everyking 03:59, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

Well, you can put that in the "personal section"....i suggest u write 2-3 sentences about it if it is a NOTABLE thing and widely covered....otherwise i dont think its inclusion is necessary...also if u include this in the article then u should provide valid sources and references to back this claim.Gprince007 04:11, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
Sources are not a problem, and it definitely warrants inclusion. However, I don't feel comfortable putting it in the personal life section as it stands right now. If someone else wants to go for it, feel free, but I'm trying to think of how this can be structured differently. Everyking 04:18, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
Well i'm not from the US, so i dont know how notable it is but if it's notable, widely covered news and well sourced info then 2-3 sentences as a separate para in the personal life section should be good enough. It would be something like the news about "Hilary Duff getting veneers" which is included as a 2-sentence para with references. check it out here. Gprince007 06:40, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
I think this information should be included in the article. No, it is not very notable, however Ashley DID cancel several performances at radio sponsored "Jingle Ball" concerts following the surgery, which upset fans. It should be included, but in 2-3 sentences only seeing as it hasn't been a widely covered piece of news information. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.2.70.143 (talk) 01:47, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
Where has it been covered, though? If it hasn't gotten media coverage, it isn't verifiable, and it shouldn't be in the article. —C.Fred (talk) 01:54, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
Her nose job has been covered by tabloids this past week where they showed a picture of her before and after with the headline that said something along the lines of "plastic surgery mess-up". I don't know if that makes it any more important, but it is being covered by the media now. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.2.70.143 (talk) 03:49, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

Just a little more info about it... The surgery was for a severly deviated septum. The problem made it hard for Ashley to breathe. She was supposed to preform at the Jingle Ball soon after the surgery, but canceled because she was not feeling well, which upset some of her fans. She has confirmed that the surgery was not in any way for vain reasons. It has been thoroughly covered by the press at the point of this post. Sundancin (talk) 00:51, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

If anyone icludes her nose job in the article, put in that she did it because she wanted her nose to be symetrical: it always leaned to the left because she got into a car accident when she was 16. 68DANNY2 (talk) 00:09, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
Already in the article with references and explanation about the non-cosmetic reason for the surgery. --NrDg 00:44, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

About the Jingle Ball

Ashley was also supposed to appear at the Q102 sponsored Jingle Ball in Camden, New Jersey on December 16, 2007, however she cancelled both this appearance and her appearance at the Y100 Jingle Ball due to her not being fully recovered from her surgery. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.2.70.143 (talk) 01:44, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

Whisper of the Heart

I think that the date of the film "Wisper of the Heart" should be changed to 2006, since that is when it was re-released in America. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.29.77.187 (talk) 22:08, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

I've changed the note to not only say that she did the voice for the English dub (compare to Cary Elwes' filmography), but I've also specified the dub was done in 2006. That's in the notes, though; the date is still as 1995, though if other editors agree, I'd favor moving it to 2006, because she worked on that release, not the 1995 one. —C.Fred (talk) 22:52, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

She Wasn't There

Ashley DID NOT perform at the Jingle Ball on December 15, 2007!! I went to the jingle ball the day after that (and she was also scheduled to be there), but she cancelled that appearance as well. She cancelled both due to not being fully recovered from her nose surgery. It is untruthful in the article when it says she DID perform at the jingle ball on the 15th. I think it should either be changed to say she cancelled BOTH jingle ball appearances, or that piece should be ommitted completely. Thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.2.70.143 (talk) 23:21, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

OK, I've just found this picture http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee284/gamasutra/ashley_tisdale.jpg but I'm not sure if it's attainable by the fair use policy. If the fair use policy is under consideration, then the answer is no, it can't be used in an article about a living person. —C.Fred (talk) 01:20, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

Imageshack as source

Using imageshack isn't the way to go, but it is permissible to directly cite the paper version of People magazine, just as people directly referenced that Radio Disney thing recently. Online sources are always easiest, but paper, radio, and television all still exist. If you have the date and issue, the material it supported can be restored.Kww (talk) 11:16, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

Yes, but it's best to have a WP:RS telling about it, instead of a "Image" on imageshack, even though that was just a picture, it could have been "Photoshopped" and all that stuff. --Kanonkas :  Take Contact  14:05, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

Sources, sources, sources

As Entertainment Tonight proved this week, a source might not always be reliable. We need multiple, reliable sources, especially with sensational or potentially libelous additions. I just did a Google News search on Ashley; the closest to a reliable source on the rumour du jour was Hollywood.com (in a story dated roughtly 00:00 UTC today). The search had the rumour as the title, and the article blurb said: "At least that’s what a source says. And we all know how reliable those damn sources are." However, they had pulled the article from their web site - which tells me they were cutting their exposure to being cited as a source for the rumour.

If there is any truth to the rumour, there will be a press conference and multiple stories on the AP and Reuters wires. Unless that happens, there is no need to be spreading unproven gossip in the article.

I wholeheartedly endorse the full protection as an emergency measure to prevent WP:BLP violations. —C.Fred (talk) 16:37, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

  • Agreed. The only question I have about the block is "is it long enough to lock things down until better information can come forth?"... I'd be tempted to lock it until Monday to give publicists time to hear of the "story" and come back with proper information. Tabercil (talk) 17:06, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
I would have no problem if you want to lock it longer. I thought a day would be sufficient and just wanted to stop the current rash of poorly sourced good faith edits. --NrDg 17:21, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
Let's see what happens for now... if the lock expires without proper information being available, we can always relock it. I would expect a rumour like "Ashley Tisdale has ****?!!?" will get a quick updating (much like that Patrick Swayze one a while back).Tabercil (talk) 17:31, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
The purpose of the protection is to guard against bad information going into the articles. If, after a day, the rumor blows over, no problem. If editors realize that nothing can go into the article without sourcing, no problem. If they go nuts again, then keep the article locked, and let's discuss all changes on the talk page until things calm down.
Tangent: Were the edits coming from established editors? I'm going to look at the edit history. If the bad edits are mostly from new/anonymous editors, we can try semi-protecting the article. —C.Fred (talk) 23:09, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
Answering my own question, all three edits that I saw were from established editors, so if we relock, it needs to be full protection. —C.Fred (talk) 23:12, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
The article was permanently semi-protected before the change to full so only established editors could add info. Other tangent - it was semi-protected for almost a year, might just let it go unprotected and see if semi is still needed after the current stuff blows over. --NrDg 23:15, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

It's all from 4chan...the editor who added a pic of a child with the title 'She's got the AIDS' said on my talk page '4chan made me do it', and a Google search of 4chan +tisdale confirms they're the ones spreading the rumor. It's because Ashley sang Never Gonna Give You Up for her new cover album and "ruined the rickroll". Nate (chatter) 06:05, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Well the HIV rumors are well...just rumors. Her Official website and People.com have quoted her rep as saying that the rumors are completely untrue. Maybe after the protection lock expires, we can cite this as source and add the info. Gprince007 (talk) 11:04, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
This also changes my perspective on the editors making the edits. Are they blindly reporting what they saw elsewhere (in good faith) or are they deliberately spreading the rumor (flagrant BLP violation, vandalism)? Anybody who re-adds, IMO, now gets a much harsher warning.
As for reporting the rumor, I think if a reliable source says 4chan is doing it, then it warrants a sentence or two that she was targeted by then with the rumor. If it can't be proven, I'm not sure whether we're better served by doing nothing, by embedding a comment in the article not to add the rumor, or adding the primary-source information from her rep. I'm really thinking of opening a case at the BLP noticeboard to get wider consensus on how to handle. —C.Fred (talk) 12:00, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
...after reading the Ghits that Mrschimpf got on her search, I'm not sure I even want to give them the pleasure of having a BLP noticeboard about their rumor. —C.Fred (talk) 12:11, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
We should as someone may try to insert this information elsewhere on Wikipedia so we should get more eyeballs watching for it. In fact I'm drafting a notice up right now. Tabercil (talk) 12:29, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
Good angle. I hadn't thought about that. I have Ashley's article on my watchlist but none of her peripheral ones. —C.Fred (talk) 12:31, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
It's why its called a noticeboard - to give notice. <G> And I'm like you in only having Ashley and a couple of the other Disney tween stars on my watchlist and not much more beyond that. In any case, the notice can be found here (for now anyway, lord knows what'll happen to that link when the board story gets archived). As for further reinserts after the block comes off, personally I'm gonna give a BV warning for the first try by an editor, and a week's vacation from editing Wikipedia for the second. Voice4Ever

Hi Voice4Ever let's discuss why i removed your information in points and then you should put your opinion, ok.

  • In my first edit i removed unnecessary references and triviac text with trivia for which song cover she sang and the artists name. Not needed and several typos reverting this edit will be reported. Which means that in most wikipedia articles you don't have references for the High School Musical movie and soundtrack including those would be trivia. The Amazon references you added were all for the release dates and in that point it made them unnecessary since they were not needed in the first place (sounds confusing??) well in other words you don't have to take the time and effort and search the net for references which are not needed and triviac text. Now it's you chance to disagree, agree or bash give us you opinion post it and then check other users reply. RaiseYourVice 20:40, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
  • Jumping on to my next edit, waiting for you to reply on the first one anyways here is stating my opinion. Since the Brazilian Award reference is in Brazilian we can not verify if it's true. I went on the votes and checked every category but couldn't find tisdale anywhere see for your self http://kca.mundonick.uol.com.br/. And too much overlinking in the Early Life section and then in the Personal Life section we have repeated references (Blender) and repeated text (don't drink qoutes). RaiseYourVice 20:49, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

The statement: Ashley Tisdale gets signed to Warner Brothers/ Problem: Written informally on Wikipedia we do not use the first name. And that fact has been mention in the article several times like in the table and solo career section. Adding release dates for every single single with forum references is not acceptable for Wikipedia and attacking me on wikipedia is not acceptable too, you have started several edit wars, you accuse people of vandelising when you disagree with their opinions and you keep on reverting and adding trivia with forum and no reliable references oh yes and you think that adding a link to a Brazilian article and using it as a reference is fine on wikipedia. A reference that doesn't state that Tisdale has been nomination for the award. RaiseYourVice 20:50, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

Alright. I removed the brazilian nomination. But explain this things to me:

  • Why you removed "Last Christmas" information? This single wasn't made for Disney, was made for Warner Bros. Records.
  • Why you removed Ashley Tisdale contract with Warner Bros. information?
  • Tisdale was the FIRST artist to debut with two singles simultaneously on Billboard. The reference says it. Why you removed it?
  • Why you renamed "Headstrong" section if this section only talks about Tisdale's debut album?
  • Why you removed tour reference?
  • Why you removed Gold certification reference?
  • Why you removed There's Something About Ashley reference?
  • Why you removed Picture This release date on DVD reference? Voices4ever 18:47, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

Images

Anybody mind having some more photos added to this article? See Commons:Ashley Tisdale for more images. Just thinking it wouldn't hurt having more images on this article, if anybody else agreed. --Kanonkas :  Talk  11:01, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

3 out of 5 images from the commons are already in the article. The other two dont gel with the article. She doesnt look nice in those two pictures and morever she's only partially visible in those two. So maybe we need to get newer pictures with proper licensing to use in the article. Sure you could help me out finding free images, I tell you it isn't easy finding Tisdale photos under a free license just so you know. --Kanonkas :  Talk  16:29, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

No Degree Girl: OMG Jams! ??

Why is there no mention of this album outside of a simple statement that she's the "face of Degree Girl"? She released an album for them! It's not even on the discography, and I KNOW the album itself used to have its own Wikipedia page. It at LEAST needs to go back on the discography. What gives? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.132.14.21 (talk) 06:34, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

Restoration of deleted content

With respect to this edit and previous reverts made, i would like to clarify certain things:

  • First of all stop providing IMdb as a source for all the claims made. Pls read Reliable source policy and verifiabilty policy and finally this guideline which clearly states that IMDB should not be used as source for information.
  • "Tisdale is rumored to star a new movie, called "You Wish"..." ....This sentence states only imdb as source and the statement itself says "Tisdale is rumored....". According to wikipedia policy, "Wikipedia is not a collection of unverifiable speculation". So i guess it shd be removed.
  • Regarding "Tisdale is in talks to star an upcoming remake of the fantasy musical, Teen Witch", the cite refers to an article dated April 17 2008. Its been over 3 months now and there have been no info whatsoever about the remake. Nor is there any info on Ashley's official website. Pls note that the cite itself states that "A script has not yet been written for the remake". Once again as per wikipedia policy, "Wikipedia is not a collection of unverifiable speculation". So i guess as long as there is not official announcements covered by Reliable sources, we shd revert the info.
  • Same thing abt Fremantle Deal. The cite is dated April 17 2008 and it states that the deal is "close to being signed". Its been over three months now and there is no info on the deal anywhere in the mainstream media or her official website. So i guess as per above policies it shd be removed.
  • Similarly, "It's unclear what kind of TV project may be in the works for Tisdale"....Since the cite itself is "unclear" abt the project, it is merely an unverifiable speculation...and as per wikipedia policy, "Wikipedia is not a collection of unverifiable speculation". So it shd be removed....
  • Regarding "Tisdale will produce a new Disney Channel show in set in a mall,", the cite states that it is "as-yet untitled Disney Channel show".....also it is date April 17 2008. Its been over three months now and there is no info on the deal anywhere in the mainstream media or her official website. So i guess as per above policies it shd be removed.

In other words all the info added is mere speculation and her official website doesnt mention anything abt these. I believe that as per crystall ball, we shd remove this info. I didnt want to get into an edit war or violate 3RR , thats why i thought of clarifying this on the talk page. I guess , majority of editors will agree with my viewpoint....thnx...Gprince007 (talk) 07:05, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

New picture?

I think she needs an update on her picture —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cperea1994 (talkcontribs) 21:21, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

I'm not against an update, but I think we should keep the current picture up until a new one can be found. (Don't forget, the picture must be free.) —C.Fred (talk) 21:26, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Duplicated line

Someone fix this duplicated line as of... now: "The album was re-released for the first time in Christmas, 2007 in a Holiday Edition with the standard CD, the DVD There's Something About Ashley in a digipack format, and some other merchandise.[27]" --75.132.14.21 (talk) 05:51, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

Navbox Musical artist?

What Hapenned? repair please :(

why does this call her a tween?

the woman is 23 years old, turning 24 in a few months. any better words to describe her than "tween". that word means a person who is 12-15, not 22-25 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Excuseme99 (talkcontribs) 07:27, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

Forbes called the list "Hollywood's Top-Paid Tweens". As a result, that's what she's referred to in the context of that list. The only other place the term "tween" appears is in reference to her fans. So, yes, both uses of "tween" are appropriate. —C.Fred (talk) 14:59, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
