Please[edit]

It's unfortunately that in the course of expanding this article editors have de-Wikified text that was previously-Wkified and, more importantly, removed relevant sections of text. While I respect that personal taste is a factor in deciding what to include and what not to include, in a collaborative effort like this information that is relevant, cited, appropriate, etc. should not be removed without excellent reason. Please edit with respect and care. Boston (talk) 23:15, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

i removed the "his lyrics are whack" and "he should delete his stupid myspace" crap.it's a moronic personal opinion and has no place here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.208.81.77 (talk) 21:11, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Morrisville[edit]

Morrisville is not even close to 30 miles from Philadelphia. It's more like 10 miles, if that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.71.55.83 (talk) 05:39, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • The other Morrisville is in the western part of the state, about 5 hours or 300 miles from Philadelphia. I'm pretty sure we're both talking about the same one. Politizer talk/contribs 15:24, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • He apparently is from the one in Western Pennsylvania, not Bucks County. (CreepyXCrawler (talk) 21:25, 7 March 2009 (UTC))[reply]
    • Do you have a source for that? Everything in the article says Bucks County. Granted, those statements are unreferenced, but so is yours. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 21:31, 7 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
      • The same interview he said he was 21 in,unless, he considers Bucks County Western Pennsylvania.

AR: I’m 21 years from Morrisville, Pennsylvania which is like where I developed most of my character. Right there in Western Pennsylvania. [2]

(CreepyXCrawler (talk) 21:50, 7 March 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Probably just a typo by the website, or a slip of the tongue by Roth. If you do a google search for "asher roth" "pennsbury high school" there are tons of results saying he went there—most of them are not RS, but there are enough to suggest that the one interview you found is just a mistake. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 22:09, 7 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Age[edit]

I saw in an MTV article that he is 23 years old, whereas this article says that he was born in 1988? That would make him 21. Can anyone else corroborate this?TauntingElf (talk) 16:03, 5 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

HIs birth year was stated as 26 when he released, "I Love College". Then in an attempt to cash in on his younger audience, his age was lowered to make him appear younger. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.202.123.249 (talk) 19:35, 31 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

In an interview HHNLive.com conducted on June 2,2008, he says he is 21. (CreepyXCrawler (talk) 21:24, 7 March 2009 (UTC))[reply]

I read on a website that he turned 23 in January 2009, therefore he was born in 1986, not 1988! User:Reli source

This needs to be corrected. Asher Roth is in fact 23 years old. They even quote him saying so in the following article: http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1608174/20090331/asher_roth.jhtml —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.63.36.16 (talk) 22:09, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Other sources in the article say 21. Obviously one or the other has made an error; someone who has access to better information can clear it up. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 22:17, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In the "Milli Remix" song he says himself that "I'm 22, more like Alex Ovechkin." Since the song came out last year he would be 23. Either way NOT born in 1988. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.178.108.144 (talk) 18:53, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Because the DOB is causing nothing but trouble, I have removed it until someone can provide better sources and settle this once and for all. Here is the text I removed:

Did Asher Roth ever live in Yardley? It is in Bucks County. This lists one that is 23,but, gives no DOB or other info. Unless you pay up. http://www.peoplefinders.com/search/searchpreview.aspx?fn=Asher&mn=&ln=Roth&city=&state=&processed=1 72.78.144.155 (talk) 22:26, 16 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Jewish?[edit]

This is Asher Roth. I am not Jewish.

Wikipedia community, I work directly with Asher Roth and please consider this the last word on his religion. He is NOT Jewish. This is an fallacy that certain members of the media have mentioned and that has spread. I received this e-mail from Dave Roth, Asher's father:

"I am not Jewish; I have never been in a synagogue and my mother was Roman Catholic. Not even Jews consider me Jewish; it insults their faith to count me among them.(And it really bugged my mother when she read this entry.) 2) His mother, Elisabeth, is a practicing Pagan/Wiccan who reads Taro cards and astrological charts. The Presbyterians would burn her at the stake. 3) He was named for both of his grandfathers. Joseph Asher McConnell and Paul Roth. I consider the failure to acknowledge the tribute to my father an insult to his memory and to me." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.120.19.102 (talk) 18:00, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

- Jason Newman on behalf of Asher and Dave Roth

Is he Jewish? From what I heard, he is. Peace. —MuzikJunky (talk) 05:29, 25 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

For Wikipedia purposes, he is not anything unless there is a good source saying he is. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 12:07, 25 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Asher has not officially confirmed his religion, but, has professed that he is indeed not Jewish. (72.78.61.117 talk) 18:52, 28 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

See This, This, and the answer to the question "So what is the name Asher Roth?" here for the answer. All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 20:07, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
So the answer is "no". The second link is pretty useless—it's an opinion piece written by someone who is clearly very pro-Jewish and wants to claim a celebrity for his own group. The first link is pretty clear that Roth does not identify himself as Jewish. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 21:37, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Seriously, each time I try to add that Roth is of Jewish descent, it's taken down. This article right here shows that Roth has a Jewish father and a Presbyterian mother. Although Roth himself says that he is not Jewish in a religious sense, he is definitely of "Jewish descent" in that his father is a Jew: http://www.forward.com/articles/104454/ --150.212.28.162 (talk) 17:06, 24 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

According to the Guardian: But only now, with the emergence of Asher Roth, a 23-year-old from Morrisville, Pennsylvania, is rap about to get its first white, Jewish superstar since the Beasties. Happy? Wikifan12345 (talk) 00:29, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Those pesky Guardian writers are too presumptuous; Roth himself usually says "I'm not Jewish" (and again here). A Philly paper even had to sort of correct the Guardian's piece ([3] - "And there's the New York rap trio that the British newspaper the Guardian referenced last month in proclaiming that "rap is about to get its first white Jewish superstar since the Beastie Boys." (A spokesman for Roth said he does not consider himself Jewish and does not practice Judaism.) "). All Hallow's (talk) 18:50, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Asher Roth, for all we know, is not Jewish. We have to believe Mr. Newman and except his statement. We can not confirm anything from a newspaper article if there are other sources telling us that he is not Jewish. I also don't believe that Mac Miller is Jewish. For some reason, Roth's speculated being Jewish was added to the page. Something decent would be if Roth could make a vlog or an announcement telling his true ethnicity and religion to get rid of speculation and make more sense. A direct source from him would give the proper information. For now, let's not add anything about his religion or exact ethnicity to the page. The only thing about that we can add is him being white. Personal Accomplishments accuracy[edit]

Regarding the line "In his song entitled "As I Em" produced by Don Cannon he raps "That Eminem comparison is barely accurate/My rapping is as passionate, but lacks the psychopath of it""

The tag doesn't source. The song with those lyrics is called Silly Boy.

Don't delete my edit this time, and if you do give me a reason. Please look before you revert edits. I'm probably not supposed to put links here, but I will tag it and you can delete this link http://www.elyricsworld.com/silly_boy_lyrics_asher_roth.html

The entire section of "Personal Accomplishments" really has no place. First, the things in this section are not really personal accomplishments in any sense. Perhaps if it said "graduated cum laude" or "insert actual personal accomplishment here" then contents would coincide with the title of the section. Furthermore, I have never seen (not to say they don't exist) other biography pages of musicians or otherwise using such a section. This is not a curriculum vitae or press packet, but a purported encyclopedic entry. If personal accomplishments are to be gleaned from the article then it should be done so by the reader's interpretation. In other words, if it says "Asher Roth won x, y and z award" then the reader can recognize, if they choose to do so, that this a personal accomplishment. However, I reiterate that the separately dedicated section is unnecessary and, quite frankly, in bad taste for the format. I will refrain from deleting it to allow time for rebuttals (or agreemet) and discussion, but if there are none (and when I say "none" I mean cogent arguments - please no fandom guiding judgment) I will delete it in a couple of weeks...Benjamin —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.89.130.176 (talk) 03:20, 22 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Discography accuracy[edit]

This is Asher Roth. Please delete "In March 2016, Roth announced that he is preparing his third studio album Red Hot Revival.[30]" This has no barring on my work and is a distraction from the work that actually came to fruition.

I added the tag unreferenced section due to the numerous changes in the sales and charting of Asleep In The Bread Aisle that seem to be just finding a better manipulation of the existing number to increase the declared prominence of the album. [4] [5] [6] [7]. There are more examples but one could simply view the history. delirious & lost (talk) 06:27, 14 September 2009 (UTC) Add his new mixtape Seared Foie Gras with Quince & Cranberry it comes out march 23, 2010 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Touchdown483 (talkcontribs) 23:58, 19 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ethnicity[edit]

Asher Roth's father is of German Jewish descent and his mother is confirmed to be of half Scottish ancestry, but her maiden name "McConnell" is an Irish surname, which would meen she is also half (or at least part on her paternal side) Irish. We should add this, we don't need a source because the name is right there. TomUSA My talk page 03:09, 1 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think you need a source, you can't add someones ancestry based on surname.--Bbrezic (talk) 13:34, 2 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
From past discussions, I honestly now doubt he is of any Jewish descent. Perhaps still of Irish or Scottish, but nothing worth mentioning at the moment. TomUSA 18:56, 22 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Extra info[edit]

This is Asher Roth. This information is frivolous and unimportant. Everyone smokes pot. Please remove.

[8] Please view this video, Asher Roth being interview by DJ Vlad about marijuana. Asher Roth admits he smokes marijuana and believes it should be legal and dislikes cigarettes because "they don't do anything for you except get you addicted."

[9] Asher Roth was influenced to do hip hop music by Jay-Z as he said in an interview. As by his song "As I Em" he is also influenced by Eminem.

I'm adding this info to the page, thanks. TomUSA 20:08, 20 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Feud[edit]

In the section which talks about his feud, "feud" and "feuding" are spelled incorrectly (as "fued" and "fueding"). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.198.95.170 (talk) 08:59, 3 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Done Sorry, I mixed those up. Thanks for the pointer. Common mistake I guess. TomUSA 02:33, 12 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Homosexual Rumors[edit]

Does anybody have any more information about Asher Roth and him being homosexual? http://www.popcrunch.com/asher-roth-gay-asher-roth-comes-out-on-e-special

He seems to have tweeted more than 4 times that he was "homosexual", but I think his label made him retract the statement each time? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.202.123.249 (talk) 19:38, 31 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is Asher Roth. My Wikipedia page is false. I never signed with Federal Prism Records. RetroHash was released independently after starting RetroHash LLC entity myself to release music after leaving Scooter Braun & UMG management.

My father is not an executive of a design firm.

There is also a bunch of speculative information in 2010-12 sections. As well as Red Hot Revival.

The entire Wikipedia page is edited with false information and I would like to be granted the ability to edit.

Thank you. ROTHESTOFASHERS (talk) 19:15, 9 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
