A number of statements on the Ashburn, Virginia page appear exactly as they appear on the website www.ashburnweb.com, so there is a possible copyright issue.

added citation for history if that helps

Too Promotional?

This statement struck me as being too much like an ad for the town: Ashburn has premier golf courses and two universities, and it is conveniently located between Washington Dulles International Airport and Leesburg.

  • I attempted to rectify that issue along with some other things. If you see anything else that still needs adjustment, feel free to edit. -- Johnny06man 20:33, 8 July 2006 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Loudoun Seal.jpg

Image:Loudoun Seal.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:33, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Real-estate advertisement

There are of course better sources for the material provided by the real-estate advertisement. TEDickey (talk) 00:15, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

Origin of name

I added a contradict tag since the history section has two different explanations for the origin of the name. --CutOffTies (talk) 15:00, 11 May 2012 (UTC)

There's only one given, in the last two sentences of the paragraph. You may be confused by the mention of Ashburn Road, which doesn't state that it existed by that name before the farm was named Ashburn TEDickey (talk) 20:19, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
I'm sorry if I'm missing something, but the end of the first paragraph in the history section says it is likely that John Janney named his summer home property Ashburn Farm after family friends named Ashburn. The first written use was in 1870.
The end of the last paragraph section in the history section says the town's villagers named the village after a burning ash tree in 1895. --CutOffTies (talk) 19:55, 15 May 2012 (UTC)
Both parts are found in the one given source, which can be read as providing names for the village and the farm as two separate statements. A second (independent) source would be nice. TEDickey (talk) 01:18, 24 May 2012 (UTC)

Entertainment Category naming

I added the Entertainment Centers category under Entertainment. If anyone could suggest a better name for that, it is welcome. GMY0da 23:21, 27 July 2014 (UTC)

Promotional?

I didn't mean to sound promotional. I was simply updating/expanding some information, since a lot of this information is either old or inaccurate. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.171.127.15 (talk) 03:21, 15 December 2014 (UTC)
