Though born in Ohio, A.B. grew up on a dairy farm located between Olivet and Charlotte Michigan. Not having an opportunity to graduate from high school prior to attending Olivet College, he earned his highschool diploma concurrently with his B.A. His wife, Susan, was from Charlotte, where they met while he was a junior lawyer. Their only natural child, a boy, died at birth, and Susan was not able to have more children. The Williams adopted two unrelated girls, first Margaret [nickname - Mugs] and then Jeanette. One of A.B.'s brothers served in the Michigan legislature. The family farm is still extant.
A.B. was hired my Postum after defeating the company in a civil suit. He retired from Postum when it's headquarters moved to NY. Having been raised on a dairy farm, A.B. was always interested in argicultural issues, and was active in legislation supporting the rural economy. His farm at Gull Lake was used for agriculture studies. Susan Williams is buried with her husband in the Charlotte, Michigan cemetary.
The entire family moved to Washington,DC during his years in Congress. A.B. was hospitalised with galblader disease after an especially arduous leguislative session. After A.b.'s death from post-operative infection, Mrs. Williams and the two teenage girls moved to Holmby Hills in California. Mugs married Wynn Cronk [d.1962] of Battle Creek, a member of the local civic orchestra, their two sons were Bruce and Peter. They moved to California. Mugs was a reporter for several newspapers, and later an editor for a community paper. Jeanette married Stuart Redner,of Battle Creek, who was the son of an Olivet College classmate. Stuart was an attorney, first in Battle Creek, and then in Jackson, Michigan for Consumers Power Company. They had two children. Alison, studied animal husbandry Cal Poly; and is a stock breeder and artist, she has three children. Bruce, who attended Olivet College, and is a minister of religion, and has two sons.
