Death[edit]

One person's Twitter post is NOT a confirmation of someone's death. 2603:8001:2A00:7428:4DA3:D1F2:1F7:A41C (talk) 23:10, 26 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I mean, it's not some rando saying it. It's fellow VAs. But sadly we don't got much reliable sources beyond nobody geek publications saying it. 2600:100E:B0C2:D1B7:10EE:992B:2F37:C37F (talk) 23:44, 26 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Is Extra reliable? https://extratv.com/2023/08/26/arleen-sorkin-dies/ 2600:100E:B0C2:D1B7:2803:2CE7:8B6C:F2CC (talk) 00:07, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Not at all since they're using the same tweet as the source. A reliable source would be one of her family members or an agency representing them. 174.79.6.226 (talk) 01:00, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry, but you are not the authority to decide that. Neil Kaplan was an industry colleague, his words have value. If no sources cited him, then we couldn't directly cite him as we can't directly link social media links, but other reliable sources citing it are fair game. Extra TV is a reliable source. Rusted AutoParts 02:31, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Extra is not listed as a reliable source and if you read the article, it is 100% based on the tweet. Compare to the source used to confirm the death of Sinead O'Connor, for example. The Guardian is listed as a reliable source and the reporting was based on more than a tweet. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 02:45, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Not being debated at the perennial sources list does not disqualify Extra's reliability. Extra has existed for thirty years, it's won Daytime Emmys for best entertainment news program. It is essentially in the same conversation as trades such as The Hollywood Reporter and Variety. Rusted AutoParts 02:50, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You're also comparing the London Metropolitan Police reporting a death in a statement to an industry friend reporting the death online. They aren't comparable, and doesn't negate news being broken on social media as an unreliable thing to report on. Rusted AutoParts 02:52, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I understand why people want to update the article, but Twitter is explicitly not considered a reliable source. Please do not change the article to include information about this until a reliable source confirms it. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 01:19, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If a reliable source is still needed... https://deadline.com/2023/08/arleen-sorkin-dead-voice-harley-quinn-days-of-our-lives-1235529041/ Magitroopa (talk) 03:54, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

when she died? This sourece (https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/arleen-sorkin-dead-days-of-our-lives-harley-quinn-voice-1235575529/) says "Thursday" - this was the August 21. The article is from August 26, 2023 10:24pm Qwertzu111111 (talk) 16:54, 3 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The Thursday prior to August 26th was August 24th. Maybe you are looking at the calendar for September instead of August? Daniel Quinlan (talk) 17:32, 3 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
thanks for your quick response and your help - you are right! Qwertzu111111 (talk) 17:50, 3 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
