Julian versus Roman Calendar

As can be discovered by reviewing the linked page on the Julian calendar, it is incorrect that the Gregorian added 10 days to the Julian. The Gregorian subtracted 0.0075 days (on average) from the Julian. It is true that the Julian and Gregorian are about 10 days shorter than the Roman "ordinary" year, but I'm not sure that really has any place in this description. --JamesGibbsMcLean (talk) 14:18, 17 September 2015 (UTC)

Merging with Freemasonry

This page should not be merged with Freemasonry because it would be extremely hard to find the information found herein, were the merge to take place. Someone seeing "AD 1965 AL 5965" on a building would wonder what AL is and naturally search for it, I don't think anyone would search for Freemasonry by just seeing "AL". --ni ez naiz aldatuko 01:26, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

2006 + 4004 = ?

It is not clear from this explanation why the Masons should add 4000 to AD dates to get AL dates. Following the explanation we should expect them to add 4004.

As stated, it is a simplification of the Anno Mundi date (which adds 4004) ... The Freemasons simply rounded off the extra 4 years. We don't know why they did this (there are no records explaining why)... we only know that they did so. Blueboar 18:22, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

Although they didn't always round off. In Nairn in Scotland the masonic hall bears two dates over the door: 1913 AD and 5917 AL. So there they were clearly using 4004, not 4000. Paulatthehug (talk) 20:14, 15 April 2019 (UTC)

Created stub

I removed a REDIRECT to Anno Mundi#Other computations since that article no longer refers to Anno Lucis. I borrowed the contents from the 40th century BC page. In consideration of Dontbeakakke's remarks, above, I put in category links to Latin Words and Phrases and Freemasonry. Lists of abbreviations etc. seem to also link to Anno Lucis already. Some of the remarks made in 2007 suggest that this formerly was an article, and not just a REDIRECT. Perhaps reverting to a prior version would have been better, but there you have it.
