Her first name seems to be French, despite her nationality and parenthood. Should it correctly be Angélique? Or has the accent been dumped? Paul Magnussen (talk)

Kerber's mother is German and she is a citizen of Germany, that's a fact, you have to accept! Besides this fact, Kerber's grandparents are Poles of German heritage, and belong to the German minority in Poland. They are also fluent in German. All of your statements are totally unsourced. Where is it claimed that they have ethnic (or whatever else) German heritage? Rzeźnik is not even a German-sounding surname, and Sławomir / Sławek is not a German name. For example my mom's maiden name is Meller and I'm fully Polish too, like both of Angie's parents. Their only connection with Germany is that they emigrated to Germany in the 1980s, Angie was born there (becoming a German citizen), but after that they returned to Poland. Provide some sources for your claims. Janusz Rzeźnik is a Polish businessman. They live in the region of Greater Poland (Wielkopolska), the oldest part of Poland. Poznań was the first capital of Poland (together with Gniezno). The oldest recorded name of Puszczykowo was Posczucowo, in year 1387. The name under the Prussian Partition was Puszczykowo. Your "Unterberg" was the Nazi era name.

You are obvious a Polish nationalist, who does not want to accept proven facts! You are just assuming things, and are writing Bullshit! Kerber's Mother was born in Germany, like Angelique herself, who is a German by birth and heritage! She got also Polish citizenship in 2012, in she did also not live in Poland before 2012, she lived in Kiel, Germany! You cannot assume heritage by name, and with a name "Meller", you obviously had German ancestors too. Puszczykowo was first recorded in a Latin text as "Posczucowo" in year 1387. And the region of Greater Poland, in which Puszczykowo is located, was founded by Poles, not by Germans. It was Polish all the way until 1793, in 1793 it became part of Prussia and in 1871 part of Germany. After WW1 it came back to Poland.Peter558 (talk) 10:53, 3 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

My Meller ancestors were Flemish/Dutch, not German. And they had Prussian citizenship (read what Konrad Adenauer claimed about Prussians - he wrote that they were not "true Germans", but a mix of German-speaking Slavs and Balts). Germany was established in 1871, before that there was no Germany. And Germans are not the only ethnic group characterized by German-sounding surnames. Also Dutch are of German heritage. Germany exists since 871, the name Germany/Teutschland evolved first time in the 11century. Unterberg was a town, not a region - and it was called like this only from 1943 to 1944. She does not play and she never played for Poland! So could the Polish nationalist please stop editing this article! Why should only Kerber be a "German-Polish" player, but Roger Feder not a Swiss-Sout-African player and Stanislaw Wawrinka not a Swiss-German player? All these players have two citizen ships! We need some photos of Kerber as most of the ones in the article are really rather poor. they should be switched out to ones showing off her forehand, her backhand, a serve, a return of serve, and a volley. Kerber infobox pic[edit]

For the infobox, usually we want a head/upperbody shot looking to our left, not a full body pic. And as long as it isn't 10 years old, newness doesn't really matter if it's a good shot. We've had a good shot with "Angelique Kerber (15307155268).jpg" gotten from wikipedia commons, and certainly it could be improved upon if we can get photographers to donate, but someone keeps putting up "Kerber BM16 (37) (27698685691).jpg" and that is a poor shot for the infobox. Looking away and down, and hunched shoulders, a bit dark, not close enough. We do not want to keep changing the pic just for the sake of newness. It's not necessary.
