Discussion[edit]

I think Bird's recent use of an "old timey" performance style (him + Hampton + Ylvisaker + (sometimes) Tift Merritt around a single microphone doing country-inspired songs) could use a mention in the "Break it Yourself (2011-present)" section.
I believe Andrew is a vegetarian--- should he be added to the list of vegetarians? I can't find the source I saw that said he was, though. --24.12.244.203 01:26, 13 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

He eats eggs. He's mentioned that before. And sweetbreads is more about his usual fascination with bizarre human customs and things like that. I think. ^.^
At an April 9, 2009 show at the Lyric Opera/ Civic Opera in Chicago, Andrew Bird dropped and damaged his violin toward the end of his set. Can someone please confirm if this was an accident or intentional.

Jack's Big Music Show Appearance[edit]

I just added a brief paragraph about Bird's appearance on Jack's Big Music Show. Don't know if it's worded as well as you all might like, and it looks a little awkward tagged on to the end of the "History" section like it is, but it definitely seems worth mentioning on the page at the very least in terms of commercial exposure and growing popularity. On a side note if y'all haven't seen the video on YouTube [1] it is most certainly a must (brilliant!).

Sovay[edit]

I would like to make a page specifically for the song 'Sovay', but I don't really know how. It has lots of allusions that could be explained, like B-17s, Don Quixote, Ride of the Valkyries, and in particular the English traditional song "Sovay", of which an exposition can be found at http://www.canasg.com/zsovay.htm, and whose lyrics (found at that page) (and, since it's traditional, presumably copyright-free) are:

Also the Andrew Bird 'Sovay' is very good and awesome.

New album april[edit]

At the WOW hall in eugene, OR, Andrew said the new album would be released in april. No cite, but it's more specific. Somebody can add it if they want.

The Ballad of the Red Shoes[edit]

I think The Ballad of the Red Shoes should be added to the list of A.B.'s albums. The reason for this is because it's listed on [2] as part of his discography. Because this is the official Andrew Bird site, I assume he got the permission of his mother, Beth Bird, with whom this album is a collaboration. Therefore, I plan to upgrade this EP from its current collaboration status in the next few days.

If anyone has any qualms with this, please say so now I will make the necessary changes on Wednesday, April 18, 2007.

Umm. This image is on Commons Commons:Image:AndrewBird.jpg. Its CC 2.0 what is the problem here? I tried to add it and some code produced a FU warning, it's not fair use. It's CC 2.0. Any help?

Dubious[edit]

Even though there is a citation listed, it appears to be incorrect. I can find no record that Andrew Bird's "Pulaski at Night" charted in the Billboard Hot 100. If anyone has a better citation, that would help. -- Danflave (talk) 20:28, 5 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

List of times Bird's songs have been used in commercials?[edit]

I noticed there were a lot of Korean comments on his Sisyphus music video so I translated some of them and they were talking about a Samsung Electronics Ad they saw with the song in it and that's how they found out about his music. Obv. I came here to try and find the ad but unless I skimmed too fast and missed it I don't see any mentions of times his music has been used in commercials or the scoring he has done for shows. I've heard and seen about maybe 1 or 2 other commercials he's had music in, and heard him talk about how he approaching making a score in interviews.

I was just wondering if that's something we'd like to have on the wiki? or if it's something that was left out because it didn't seem like it would fit or something. Grumbb (talk) 21:00, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
