Amparo means protection and refers to protection for people in need. In the first half of the twentieth century was a woman known nmbre the area of Valencia, today is in decline and extinguishing. Valencian its synonym is Empar

Article needs revision[edit]

Almost all of the contents of this article is related to Our Lady of the Forsaken (La virgen de los desamparados). It should instead talk about Our Lady of the Refuge and the people and places that were named after it.

Both versions "del Amparo" and "de los Desamparados" are not seen as opposed one to the other; if I understand correctly, the forsaken are in a bitter and increased need of shelter, protection, aid.
