This needs to be more accessible[edit]

I have a master's in science degree and I am not certain what is being said here. The wording is jargon and should be made a little more plain. This is the first time I have read any Wikpedia article in the sciences domain where I did not understand what was being said. Even in Maths beyond my level, it is still recognisable to some degree. The words used here obfuscate the meaning. E.g. "Allosteric modulators bind to a site distinct from that of the orthosteric agonist binding site. " is a godel sentence. If I already knew what an orthosteric agonist binding site was, I would already know what an allosteric modulator is. The intent of Wikipedia is to disseminate knowledge. Not to keep it within the domain of those who are already privileged with education on the subject. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Plutophanes (talkcontribs) 00:24, 13 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Merger proposal[edit]

I propose to merge Allosteric modulator into Allosteric regulation.

I think that the content in the Allosteric modulator article, which is essentially from a pharmacological perspective, can easily be explained in the context of Allosteric regulation, from a broader biochemical perspective, and that the Allosteric regulation article is of a reasonable size that the merging of Allosteric regulation will not cause any problems as far as article size is concerned. Adding to this soon[edit]

Soon I will be working on expanding the more specific effects that allosteric modulators have, including an expansion on what the benefits are to using those over receptor agonists. This expansion might be a decent reason to keep the two pages proposed to merge together as separate pages. Ikenhower (talk) 17:41, 15 Oct 2019
