I would be interested in the origin or this word. I am also interested in people’s thoughts on the use of ‘alae’ instead of ‘ala’. The term ala in nematode description has been rare and most researchers would be unaware that ala exists anywhere but in a religious context. The first clue often comes from the spell check that attempts to put the term into the plural when the sentence is structured singularly. I also had to place the word nematode in front of it as i was redirected to ala and could not enter alae by itself, i am working on this.
