Naming[edit]

As Ake is a disambiguation, I put the article at "Aké". However, I note that the prefered usage of Mayan names for Maya sites would be unaccented. Perhaps "Ake, Yucatán" would be a better name? Thoughts? -- Infrogmation 15:23, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmm. That could work, or we could also consider something like Ake (Maya site). Perhaps we should work out a general guideline for site name dabs at WP:MESO/G.--cjllw | TALK 02:02, 12 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
On further reflection, and given that currently the only alternative meaning is a 'mis-spelling' of Akçe, perhaps the Maya site could reclaim the title Ake, with a hatnote pointing to the entry for Akçe (Ottoman monetary unit). Would probably need to raise at WP:RM tho', since looks like any move would require admin assistance.--cjllw | TALK 04:31, 24 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the debate was PAGE MOVED per sensible request. There wasn't any discussion as such, but this seems uncontroversial. -GTBacchus(talk) 04:11, 27 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move[edit]

AkéAke – By WP MESO proposed guidelines, Maya sites whose name derives from a Mayan language do not require accented characters when appearing in english prose (the accent is a feature when the placename is written in spanish prose), and hence the designated title should be Ake. However, this move is obstructed as the target Ake has a non-trivial edit history. The only alternative meaning noted for Ake is as a mis-spelling redirect of a particular coinage from the Ottoman Empire, this should be more easily handled by providing a hatnote link to Akçe once Ake becomes the article about the Maya site. cjllw | TALK 05:00, 19 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
